My Magic Tilt ALS1928 trailer has all sorts of dark grime on it from sitting out in Beaumont weather for 5 years. The funk won't come off with simple scrubbing ... it's like stains on the metal. There's no actual rough corrosion; the metal is still smooth.

The trailer is basically made out of aluminum I-bars, and I think they are bare metal ... there doesn't seem to be any kind of coating. Anyone have a product you'd recommend, that would be safe for me to use to polish while the boat is on the trailer? Aluma Brite scares me a bit ... would hate to get that stuff on my gelcoat.

Truckers use acid to clean tanks and wheels. spray on hose off. Available at truck parts suppliers.I used it on pontoons.

be back is right if you have a johnson supply or jonestone supply but a case or chemcoil spry it on spray it of it will look brand new

I like to use a spray cleaner that most used car dealers use it is called all purpose it will work for most metals, rinse trailer spray it on the rinser after a few minutes as always do not leave it on too long basicly do not let it dry, if for any reason it does not come off try scrubbing then rinsing this stuff works great on brake dust also should be able to pick it up @ places like auto zones type of stores hope it helps

Thanks all ... I wound up doing it the hard way -- cleaned the whole trailer with Mother's Aluminum Polish. After I recovered and could stand up straight again, I decided that perhaps a light coating of corrosion adds character to the trailer.
