How deep are the crappie in the slips in Collin Park? I am making some crappie condos. Do you sink the condos or tie them to the dock and suspend them? I just moved here so I am new to Crappie fishing. I saw the famous "Tarponfly" getting out of the water, from his little one man boats, and they had 2 nice stringers of crappie. I didn't have the chance to speak to him though. Any help would be great. Thanks.

You can do both...depending on how deep your dock is...
Water depth that hold crappies under docks varies from lake to lake... However, if yours is about 15' at normal water condition, then your dock has a good chance of holding some fish in the summer.
If it's not too deep, you can sink brush to the bottom and it won't be as noticable to attract other crappie anglers to your dock. However, if you wish to remove the brush later on to put in new ones, you may want to hang them instead...
Note: Don't over brush...leave some 2'-3' gap between your brush so that you would have a chance to dip your jig down on the side of the brush as well as catching the suspend ones on top of the brush. From time to time, people would hang way too many brush that it's unfishable...

Hope to get an invite to visit your slip at Lavon someday...heheheh

Thanks for the tips. Have any of you guys and gals been getting into any crappie on Lavon? I'm still curious how deep they are. I PM'ed Mr. Tarponfly to see how deep he was fishing, but I'm sure he is fishing right now. So I would not expect an answer till later from him. Other than that, I have been catching some big Channel Cats in the slip. Average is about 5 pounds. I really don't like cleaning them at my age, so I let them all go. I just want some crappie. I'm from AZ, so we did not have any water to fish there. This is all new to me.

timber 15-23 feet of water, or brush in 16-28 feet of water, fish are everywhere you even catch a few in the tires at collin park fish are suspended from 12-16 feet deep right now will probably hold that pattern till the fall cant wait for it to get back to the 80s geez its flame

went to collin park marina and got skunked on crappie. caught lots of bream though. my main reason, my battery was dead to my fish finder. so i was fishing blind...... nice out on the water though. used a blue gill to try to catch a cat, missed every bite (6). lost them all. -circle hook was turned around and embedded in the fish.....stupid circles..........next time ill have my electronics working.........

James is right, I'm averaging 25-48 keepers per trip fishing 15-20' water around b/p's and submerged timber.
