Txbowjunk and I went out this morning for a little R&R crappie style. We were tired of being cooped up in the house for the summer. The bite was really slow this morning on crappie, only 4 keepers. All from the same brushpile and nothing on the others except these ugly things that Joel caught.

Wow, the water was like glass! No wonder it was a tough day on the crappie bite. Nice job though on those trash fish!

It seems that crappie don't bite good when it is dead calm. Those are some nice trash fish though. thumb

Ya, I think we got there in the middle of a wind direction change. It was just a little bit out of the north when we arrived then dead calm, so I think it was in a transition back to the normal S-SW.

I have to differ. I went out this past week, water was like glass and brought home a good dozen, along with the usual 22" LMB that seems to be following me on my recent outings.

Would like to hear what the old-schooler's have to say about the calm water; don't know, maybe there is something to it and my experience was just a fluke.

Last few times I've been to our slips, the trash fish have been killing my FinneyTribe Rocky Tops to death. Occasionally, I'm lucky to hook into a crappie. bang
