THE EVENT: A unique fishing and boating experience for 30 Wounded Warriors from the Texas National Guard, Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard, plus a fun-filled outing for their families at Hawaiian Falls Water Park.
FRIDAY
EVENING: At a Friday night “Pairings Party” party at Market Hall, Wounded Warriors will tour the Dallas Summer Boat Show and Sale, plus be paired with professional anglers for their day of fishing. Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. at Market Hall.
SATURDAY
MORNING: Early Saturday morning, the Tournament of Heroes Invitational Bass Tournament launches from Pier 121 on Lake Lewisville with full military pageantry complete with military aircraft flyover, color guard and National Anthem at 8 a.m. As fishing teams leave the docks their boats will pass onto the lake through a boat lane made up of private boaters forming the Flotilla of Honor, providing a vivid send-off for the fishing teams. While they compete in the bass tournament, the troops’ families will enjoy the day at Hawaiian Falls Water Park in The Colony.
Teams fish until 2 p.m. when the teams along with their boats will be escorted in a Dallas Police Department motorcade to Market Hall for the 4:00 p.m. Live Weigh-in program, emceed by radio personality Jeff Bolton of KLIF.
DURING THE
SHOW: Guests at the Dallas Summer Boat Show and Sale, July 17-19, can inspect a variety of military equipment including a 15 foot long High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV or Humvee), a scraper and an Eliminator Class Port Security Boat.
SUPPORTING
GROUPS: Lodging for the soldiers and their families is being provided by aloft frisco. Frisco Embassy Suites, and Hampton Inn and Suites Legacy Park, Frisco, Texas.
40 fishing style life-jackets were donated for use by the soldiers by V&V Distributors.
PARTICIPATION
OPPORTUNITIES: The general public and all boaters are invited to join in at the launch and the forming the Flotilla of Honor to create a dramatic send-off for Wounded Warriors and their Pro Anglers and to be at Dallas Market Hall for the Weigh-In Show.
