'92 GMC truck, full size, 350 engine, loaded.
The heat gauge is marked.....100....then the next mark is 210.
The stat I have in it is 195 and has been in it over two years.
Problem is....I can't remember where the indicator should be!
Right now it makes it barely up to the 100 mark and then drops just a "hair" and stays right there.
Is this too "cold" for a 195 stat?
Is this normal?
Like I say, I can't really remember where the gauge used to top out when fully warmed up....but I "think" it was higher than what it is now.
Any advice or suggestions?
Ps....If it ain't broke I don't want to fix it. But on the otherhand I don't want to be driving with a "cold" engine.
Thanks.

the thermostat is broken again and is stuck open its ok in the summer but in winter your truck will never heat up that means no heater the part is like 5 bucks and takes 5 mins tops to change it you are driving a cold engine just so you know

I would be willing to bet that it's running over 100deg. Also,. it's not ok like this in the summertime. The water is actually going through the radiator too fast to cool off. Also, if the ECM is seeing 100 deg it will be adjusting fuel mixture, timing, & other engine parameters incorrectly. This could cause poor fuel mileage, or at worst, engine damage.
You need to pull out the thermostat & check it. If it is bad, install a good brass one. Otherwise you most likely have a bad temp sensor.

. Danged busy-body ECM! Why can't it just mind it's own business!!
Thanks for the info.....will go change it out as soon as I grabbanother cuppa coffee and read the newspaper funnies.

I'd change it out, it is not like it is expensive or time consuming.

UPDATE.....
Put the new stat in with no problems. The anti-seize compound I had put on the bolts made removal very easy.
Couldn't get a Stant so settled for the only brand O'Reily carries...Murray.
Shakedown cruise to Wal*Mart for snack items saw the temp climb to halfway between the 100 and 210 mark.
I think this is where it was when I put the last stat in about 3 years or so ago. Anyway, I am making a tiny mark with paint pencil.....lest my not so nimble brain forgets in the future!
Thanks for the suggestions and advice!
