Keeping this as short as possible, wanted to see what the suggestions on tires would be for my truck.

Manufacture size 235/80/16

My last 2 sets were Goodyear Wranglor Silent Armor.

1st set was 275/75/16 - Goodyear could not keep weights on. They ended up giving me another set 20,000 miles into it.

2nd set (the one that Goodyear sent me) is 265/75/16 - Again can't keep them balanced. My truck keeps throwing weights.

So from driving around with unbalanced tires I now need a new set Didn't hardly get what I should have out of these.

(A little back history - 1st 2 sets of tires on this truck were BF Goodrich 305/70/16 and never had a problem with balancing)

Although I really like that Wrangler tire, I'm done with Goodyear. My next set will be a little narrower in attemps to keep my tires balanced. Assuming that is what the problem is. Next set will be size 245/75/16.

What are you F250 guys running? I need load range E if it matters.

I've had a set 265/70-16s on my truck for 5 years and will replace them this summer. I've been happy with them. Quiet on the highway, good traction in rain, snow, and on dirt roads.

tirerack.com has a lot of reviews of different tires.

I was actually leaning towards a Bridgeston/firestone tire. There is a Firestone shop a block or two away from where I work. It would make it really easy for me to get those tires serviced. I don't think that I'm going to go with a 265 though. It's weird but I haven't been able to keep weights on my wheels for the past 2 sets. Tire shop and tire manufacture keep telling me that there is nothing that can be done if I go outside of the size specified by vehicle manufacture. Guess I'll just keep downsizing until I get a fit that works.

Michelin LTX M/S or Michelin LTX A/S. A little pricey but they wear like iron - you get what you pay for. M/S is a little more agressive on the tread design and the A/S is more of a highway tire. I did a lot of research on tires and I went with the A/S on my F250 and they have been great - very smooth and quiet. Keep 'em rotated ad they'll last a LONG time.

mom finally had to put new tires on the suburban. she got 52000 miles off of the LTX A/S.

dad ran Bridgestone Dueler AT Revos on his 2000 F-350 4x4 7.3L diesel and they are a good tire also.

I run Toyos on my '02 F 250, 7.3 4X4. I run on a lot of rocks and they hold up much better than the Goodyears did. Goodyears didn't even last a year.

While at the tire shop yesterday getting some quotes, I was asking about the tire size of 245/75/16. Guy says that tire is to small and that I need to stick with the 265/70/16.

Manufacture tire size is 235/85/16. Guy says that the two tire sizes approved for Ford trucks like I have are the 235/85/16 and 265/70/16.

Anybody else ever heard of that or know if that is correct?

My 2001 F250 came with 235/85/16's. They looked like pizza cutters and I didn't like the ride much at all. Much happier with Michelin LTX/AS 265/75/16's I have on it now. Almost identical in height and wider but not too wide.

What does the owner's manual say about sizes?

i think you would like a 265/75/16 on that truck better than a 245/75/16. i have a 1993 Chevy 2500 and it is rated for 245/75/16 but the other day i put 265/75/16 they make the truck look ALOT better.

I agree. I like that size of tire. There has to be something with the tire or how the shop was putting on the weights to why I could never keep my tire balanced.

Open up the Drivers door and look on the body below the door striker and there should be a Tire and pressure information sticker. Granted that you have the factory rims, this should give you the correct tire size and pressures that the factory recommends for this truck. Also check your local Ford dealers and price them there, you would probably be suprised at how much cheaper you can get them there vs. a tire shop. I know that I blow my competition out of the water!

I put over 100k miles on a '97 F250 (and when it was worn out I traded it for a new Dodge). The original tires were 235/85 R16. Early on I put on a set of BFG MT's in 255/85 R16. These are taller than the stock tires, but only a very little bit wider. There aren't a lot of tires available in this size, but it worked great for me.

The 265's are wider tires than the 235's but the diameter are pretty close to the same.
I think, if I remember right and I won't guarantee that, the 265's take a 8.5" wide wheel where the 235's take an 8" wide wheel. If you want a better grip get the 265's but if you are OK with what you have gotten with the 235's then you wouldn't need to change.

The Michelins which I run get great tire mileage but they are not known to be much for grip in the rain. If that is a concern I would at least go with the M/S tires as they have a more agressive tread.

I have the Michelin LTX M/S on my 2001 F250. Very happy with them and the traction is great. A little bit pricier but excellent tire in my opinion.
