Pre-Emergent last fall and early this spring.
Grass burs still sprouted.
Bought that high-dollar "Image" to spray the burs.
Seems to have killed most of my Bermuda.
Grass burs are thriving like never before.
Is there a market for fresh grass burs?
If not, how can I get rid of them without physically pulling all 12.932 million of them???

I haven't tried this before, but I remember reading it somewhere and it sounds like it would work.
Get an old piece of carpet. Tie a rope to it. Drag it back and forth across your yard. It should get a lot of them. It won't take care of the problem long term, but it will help out momentarily.

I have tried this at 2 different houses Ive lived in and it helped greatly. Cut grass a little shorter than you normally do and drag old towel, carpet, burlap... Anything fabric behind the mower. It takes time but it does work. I own a lawn care biz and have tried on customers yards with good results. Good Luck!

Post-emergence herbicide such as MSMA or DSMA is used, wait until the day time temperatures are about 75 degrees F. for the products to be most effective. To insure complete control of germinating grass burrs in heavily infested areas, extend the residual of the herbicide barrier in the soil and thus extend the length of control period by making applications of the pre-emergent herbicide EVERY 6 WEEKS through September. In areas with a light infestation of grass burrs, two applications that are 6 weeks apart and after the initial application should control seed germination. I also use a good pre-emergant in Fall and early spring before Bermuda come out. Frequent light sprinkling encourages shallow-rooted weeds and seed germination. Less frequent "deep-soak" watering that maintains a dry surface layer provides the grass with a competitive advantage

Pick them...........Get the whole thing root and all and dont let any burrs fall off. In 2 seasons they will all be gone. My dad has done this and his neighbors followed suite.

Always catch your grass when you mow. Never let it set. Also, really thick bermuda or st augustine will usually choke out the burrs and other weeds. You may think about scattering some seed in addition to the other things listed here.

MSMA and DSMA are post emergent herbicides to be used on young sand burr plants.
Amaze or Surflan are preemergent herbicides for sand burrs.

Burn your yard. It will kill all the grass burr seeds and next year you will just have grass. We do it about every 6 or 7 years here when they start to get bad again. Should get rid off all the grass burrs for next year.

I've had the MSMA wipe out the sand burs in one application in Burmuda. In this heat it will discolor your Bermuda a little and slow it's growth for a couple of weeks but it will bounce back.

Just have a yard party for all the obnoxious little brats you see sometimes who never mind...and refuse to wear their shoes when told to! They'll pick em' up!

Keep your grass mowed pretty short and learn to identify the young grass burr plants. Get a small sprayer full of Round Up and nuke 'em every time they show up.
