I had the chance to go ride with Nitro Pro James Biggs this past Sunday on Lake Grapevine. My mission, to learn more about Marina fishing, and to get as much info as I could to post for the TFF'ers.
This wasn't a "Day On The Water", we only fished from about Noon till 5 ish and I wanted to stay in the Marinas as much as possible. I will only hit instructional points, so I can save some stuff for his "Day On The Water" later this Summer.
So here goes.....
I called James and told him his name had came up multiple times on being someone to talk to about Marina fishing, and asked if I could go on a trip with him to shoot video's and get some lesson's.
He was generous enough to let me tag along, and man I tell you what, I GOT A GREAT LESSON ON MARINA FISHING.
Take a look at this pick, what do you notice about the way James Started fishing the tires outside the Marinas????
Can you see it now??
OK OK What about now??
Tip When fishing tires look for and don't be afraid to pitch into the tires with Foam in them, that adds more shade and most of the times less pressured fish.
Tip Look for tires with spider webs in the middle of the tire, that means that nobody has made cast into them, are not for a long while.
James uses a heavy 3/4 weight and 20 lb XPS Flouro, Don't worry about Breaking off, because it's going to happen at sometime are another, if you put your bait into less pressured areas other anglers don't go into.
OK now when you pull into a Marina what's the first thing you look at???
Can you see what James is telling me to look??
Here is the set of poles James just showed us how to read in the last video...can you see the difference in the poles (The 5 on the Far Right)??
Tip Also remember to look for Spider Webs inside boat slips, as that is a highly unpressured area.
Now lets see how James attacks the inner parts of the marina..
James Catches fish 2:00 into video..
Now Watch this video and remember the slip at the end of the video...He will return to it later..
Remember when I told you all James said you have to put your bait in un pressured areas....
Remember the Video I told you to remember the last slip at the video?? He catches a fish from behind the slip..
James on boat traffic in a marina...and catches 2 fish..
A Easy way to really sling a bait under slips and docks..
OK look at this shadow...James says don't waste cast casting to the shadow, take the time and wait to cast down the shadow.
Now I will tell you that he did get hung up a LOT, but did stick A TON OF FISH....I stopped counting at over 25.
You do need this set up, while fishing like James does..
Just to let you all know, James has a LOT more info, saved for his "Day On The Water", he did spend the last hour Cranking and C-Rigging main lake points and whacking them in deep water. I don't want to spoil to much before his write up.
Here's my question to you TFF'ers, what lake has a ton of Slips and Docks on you would like to see James attack. Maybe a small lake you call your home lake, you want to see fished. Or maybe a lake that has Slips and Docks, but is known to fish tough. Post and give me some ideas what and where you would like to see him go and maybe open some insight into the lake.
AWESOME....... Thought u guys were going to Palestine tho?

Better pay attention. I've seen this guy come in with sacks when no one else could. I made the comment to him a long time ago that I bet he could find fish in a dessert. Probably deosn't remember me from John Doe though.

I've been lucky enough to share the boat with James a few times. A nicer guy and a better angler you would be hard pressed to find. I am proud to call him a friend and learn a little every time we fish.
