Hey everyone,

I usually post in the carp forum, but we just got back from a vacation down in South Padre Island, and we went on a 4 hour bay fishing trip one morning on the Bay King there~ we caught 33 fish, mostly fish called whiting and sand trout. My wife caught the majority of them, and it was fun seeing her catching a bunch of them.. she even caught the biggest fish on the boat for the trip... a 16" whiting!

here's the 16" whiting... and of course she doesn't wanna hold the fish up:

here's a couple of her many whiting:

and here's our stringer:

and here are a couple of short YouTube videos:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gg_w3lgal24 (you can actually see the moment the fish gets hooked)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDro_YbRXSU (video of the big whiting)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfSCVfwI4X4 (video of me catching sand trout)

...hope people don't mind me posting these up here... just thought it was cool that she caught so many! we had them cleaned, and ended eating a bunch of them grilled, fried, broiled, and blackened! awesome!

danny, sorry, but the second and third pictures are not sand trout. They are also whiting. Sand trout look just like speckled trout but without the spots. They don't have the overbite that whiting have.

oops! hey thanks fisherwood for the correction (title changed above)!~ haha, obviously my first time bay fishing for these fish

I guess I didn't take any closeup pictures of the sand trout... well, we definitely caught several (I do remember them looking different and the deck hands are right I'm sure) and too bad I don't have the pics~ maybe if I look closer on the stringer~

dkinla,
nice report,
those party boats are fun, me and my wife did that one time, but yall caught more fish than we did.
we also caught whiting, just not that many.
i looked at your stringer and there are indeed some sand trout in the mix.
the last one at the end by your wife is def a sand trout.

hey bowfisher and luvdemslabs~

thanks for your comments! yup! definitely a good time.. that boat was rockin with music and the deck hands were pretty funny too.

a deckhand who was putting a fish on the stringer for one of the couples fishing next to us somehow lost the stringer and it fell into the water with maybe 8-9 fish on there (I didn't personally see it go in the water), and so a couple deckhands on the boat started fishing too to try to catch some more fish for the couple... but miraculously, about 30 minutes later, my wife thought she had something big on the line, and when she brought it up... she had caught the lost stringer and all 8-9 of the fish were still on there! that was pretty funny...
