Okay....I'm wanting to use this stuff on some of my fillets.
I like a little kick to my fish....I'm guessing this is stuff to use. I looked for it in Kroger the other day but all I saw was Zataran's Rice mix stuff. Is that what you use?

Any ideas for a good fish mix/batter? I tried some Louisiana Seasoned mix the other day and that was pretty good....just not much kick.

Any ideas?

zatairans is ok but I prefer tony's, you can find both of them with the seasonings like salt and pepper, or just ask someone that works there, it's not the same as the rice mix

for my fish fry I use:
1 cup white corn meal
1/3 cup all purpose flour
shake in some course ground pepper while stirring until I think it looks good
shake in some tony's while stirring until mixed evenly and I can see the red specks

you can season this to taste, cayane pepper will give it some kick

I cut my fish up in all the same size than I put a little Tonys on it. Than I use Zatairan meal to fry it up and soon as it comes out of the grease I put a little more of Tonys on it. I 've been real happy the way it has turned out.

And Tony's makes a "More Spice" version. It's not as salty (but still salty) and a little hotter than the normal one.

Punch it up a little with cayenne pepper or powdered Jalapeno.this should make it spicy enough,if not try rubbing your filets with a small amount of mustard andlet them sit in a ziploc bag for about an hour then use any cornmeal seasoning mix and punch it up a little

Miss Tex Spicy fish Fry. Don't need to add anything. Just coat fillets with mustard, dredge throught the fish fry and fry til they float.

2 cups flour

2 Teaspoons, cajun spice, any brand, cheap stuff from Kroger is good
2 Teaspoons, Cavender's greek seasoning (from Cavender's Boot City)
2 Teaspoons Tandoori spice (basically paprika, salt, cumin, cayenne)

this will give you the kick and spice and, more importantly, good taste. It is no good to just have HOT chilis without any spice taste too.

I put in some Cayenne Pepper sauce in my dredge and Tony's Creole Seasoning in my batter for a good kick.

Lots of times, I noticed the fish cooking stuff will be on small cardboard display near the meat section.

Add some cayenne to the Zatarain's. If that's not hot enough, rub a little in your eyes. That ought to spice it up a bit..You'll forget all about the Zatarain's...

Also you might want to try soaking the fillets in Louisianna hot sauce for an hour or so. It gives the fillets a little kick and also removes some of the fishy taste.

Normally I put a little Tonys in the batter but I have just shook some on the filets fresh from the grease too.

I'm with the Pirate, Prudhomme's Blackened Redfish Magic is as good as it gets. It's good on chicken, too.

I think some of you all are confusing the zataran's fish fry coating with the zataran's seasoning.
