No doubt, It has to have been the old Allison's that became popular in the early 1970's bass versions. They were not the first in this style of hull, though Paul Allison brought the pad hull to bass fishing from our knowledge.

Skeeter also had a version of this tri step pad hull in the mid to early 70's.

There are other variations of different hulls like the Molinari that Hydro Stream and then Skeeter and others brought in in mid 1970's, eventually copied by Champion in 1976MY, and a few others.

No contest and we lived that era! Eventually building our own version of that hull in 1974 model year. Eventually you either had that type of hull, or you were no longer in business.

As for innovative or best bass boats, that is a matter of opinion and we have had our share of innovations at BCB.

And you wouldn't trade it for anything else, right? Cmon...

actually yeah i wouldnt. its the boat i picked as it fits in my garage and does what i want. small enough to easily launch and recover alone. its just me and teh wife and the boat is big enough for what we fish for what and where we fish. i could have gotten a bigger one and still have it paid in full at purchase. i went from a 23' wellcraft to this one. big boats are fine if your into the pain involved in horseing em around but ive been there and no desire to go back. i dont fish outside of sight of land and i dont need something to rde a hurricane out in...

so why you gotta issue with my choice?? you can make payments on anything you want to and i wont compalin about your choice but i own my boat straight out. it does what i want and its a good boat.

I have to agree with you on the Allison. They are one of the most innovative boat builders in the US and have been pioneers in many areas of boat building. That being said, and I own one, they are not necessarily for everyone. However, you have to admire their innovation and quality.

Skeeter Wrangler, Hydrosport 270 with Kevlar hull , First Gen Champion.

I feel those boats really changed bass boats.

Thanks, Billy

I owned a Skeeter Wrangler in 1978, I believe, with a 175 Merc Black Max. I don't know if it changed bass boats, but it sure made me change my drawers a few times. grin
