i think i saw this topic somewhere on the forum. i just talked to my service man at our local chevy dealer. my '03 silverado's speedometer is going haywire. he said if it has less than 75,000 miles, they fix it, no problem. i'm in good shape because i only have 40,000 on it. maybe i should get out more! banana

I've had two problems with Chevy trucks.....Instruments and parking brakes....99/04/08....Seems like they know and won't make a change....By the way, the two parking break issues were on the 99 and 08 with rear drum brakes..The 04 had no brake problems at all and had rear disc brakes.

Chevy fixed the instruments, too....

there was a recall on the '03 chevy trucks for the instument cluster. I had mine replaced about 2 years ago when I got the recall letter in the mail. I was WAY OVER the 75k miles though. I cost me $150 to have mine replaced well under the $500 for a new one though.....Too bad they programmed the new one with my old mileage lol. 145k on it now and still runs great.(Knock on wood)

Had my instrument cluster was replaced also under warranty, but I had closer to 90k when mine went out. I have an 04.

My neighbor said he had to take his Tundra in to the shop, do they build a poor product?

had the same thing happen on my 05 GMC Sierra, 56k miles and out of warranty. Dealer replaced the instrument panel, no charge.

Mine is screwing up too. I have a 2005 GMC Duramax with 71,000 miles. Every once in a while the speedo goes crazy and then it takes a week for it to go back to zero. Same thing with the other gauges. I don't know what is wrong with it. I thought it was out of warranty except for the drive train at 36,000 miles?

It was out of warranty, but the dealer said it was a known issue and fixed it no charge (about a year or so ago.)
