I just bought a 2007 BassCat Pantera IV and it is insured for more than that. I pay $563 per year with $500 deductable, 300K liability.

I have a speeding ticket and a boat claim that paid out 16k. My insurance went from 520 a year to 800 for 24k in coverage plus 8k in gear and 300k personnel liability. plus towing at 250 deductible. The ticket and claim hurt............Farmers refused to renew policy. so now it is with progressive.

Anyone who is paying $500 and below... Can you please provide what company you are using. Can't seem to find anything for under $585.I've tried progressive, foremost, and Worldwide Marine Underwriters.

I was paying $698 for 35K and 5K for fishing equipment until I got a hold of Bob at Worldwide Marine Insurance. He lowered it to $459 per year plus got me way better coverage than I had. He also spent a lot of time education me on the different types of boat policies that there are. In order to compare prices on boat polices you need to also need to look at the type of policy and the coverages it provides. I urge you to get a hold of Bob and give him a chance to review your insurance.

That does sound really high. We called Bob at Worldwide Marine Underwriters to insure our new boat.

I have agreed value policy of 35k for boat and trailer 300k liability, if something does go wrong and the boat is totaled I would receive 35k today or 5 years from now this policy is great due to rising cost of a replacement Rig my Insurane premium has never been over $400.00 I live in MA which I thought had higher Insurance Rates but from I see for prices maybe not? I have never had a boat claim since I obtained marine Insurance, I use FITTS Insurance the best part about this is the Vice President is a Bass Fisherman so he clearly understands the needs of Tournament anglers, not sure if he insures out of state or not
Thanks

Get another quote from progressive with the same options except change the 100K liability to 300K or 500K liability. I found that since it's $100 minimum, I could get the 500K coverage on the policy for the same $100 price.

I did this all online, so if there is a DFW TFF'er that is a progressive agent I would definitely like to have a 'personal' insurance agent! smile

It is almost impossible to compare rates these days. Things to consider; company rates, insurance credit scores, speeding tickets, accidents, prior claims, number of boat drivers, age of boat, horsepower of engine, all of which play a role in the price of boat insurance premiums. I am an independent agent in the Dallas area and the rates vary. Remember, price isn't everything, when you buy a rod or reel, do you buy the cheapest? Same thing with insurance. You might need it someday...
