I need tips on how to hook a cricket and keep him on the hook?

This could be better than the mystery fish thread...

LOL! I could've come up with a bunch of smarties on that question, but I won't.
I insert the hook point through the rear end and run the barb out through the middle of their hard little heads. Then I scrunch them back down on the bard so as to hide it and wait for the bite. Yes, it will kill Jimmeney Cricket eventually but they stay on the hook much better than any other way I have tried. The bream usually attack them pretty quickly, anyway.

I am certainly no bream fishing expert. This is only what has worked for me.

What are you using for bait to catch the cricket? I stopped fishin' for crickets years ago, they always bite short. I can't keep them on the hook either...

I'll try fouzman's method next time ... sounds like he is a much better hooker than I am.... I mean for crickets.

replace him with a plastic tube jig, preferably a Tricolor MicroTube jig, on a 1/32 nd oz UNPAINTED jig head!!!!!!

They have tough tounges. Get them to stick there tounge out and hook it dead center.
