I went down to Newman's Bottom this morning around 9:30. I found whites stacked up at a couple spots and manages to snag 10 using a 1/16 oz yellow grub jig. They were all in deep pools downstream from rapids. I also caught two gaspergoos as well as hooking into what looked to be an 8 pound goo until he spit the hook. There are only a few good pools with a good spot to cast from the bank but a kayak would have a lot of options. The whites bite shout down around 11 as they started getting deep. I got a few of the deep ones to bite but it wasn't worth losing my jig every other cast to the bottom structure. After that I transitioned to catfish so I wouldn't have to retie all day. I used beef liver and nabbed 7 cats primarily from bends in the creek. The whole time I was there I only saw 4 other people so many missed out on a good day of fishing. The only downside was the gate is not open and walking back to the car with a 20 pound stringer is hard work
I also saw an otter munching on a white bass which was pretty cool. I didn't know there were any in there.

Anyone want to go Monday? I am thinking about it. It would make the long walk in and out alot easier if I had someone to talk with. I would get there about 8:30-9:00am. I wil check back before 10pm tonight

I did well. I got the first 12 in the 1st hour and then the rest came over about 2 1/2 hours. They were all males. The mosquito's did well also, I forgot the off. I probably would have had a limit in 2 hours if I was not constantly getting attacked from the air force

The bite is back on. I caught a limit tuesday morning in a hour and half. Took my son this morning and we each caught a limit. Most of the fish came from 200 yards down from the NB bridge. We also caught 16 fish at the large sandy bend upstream 1/4 mile or so.
