My family LOVES this stuff - note the CHEAP ingredients

1-2 lb. Ground Beef (we use sirloin)
taco seasoning mix
2 cans KROGER hot chili beans (they are not hot)
KROGER creamy ranch dressing
tomatoes
lettuce (we use romaine)
shredded cheese
Nacho Cheese Doritos


Cook the taco meat
Drain the beans (don't wash them though)
In a BIG bowl mix: meat, beans, lettuce, tomatoes, ranch dressing (how much is up to you)
Crunch up the Doritos into pieces about 1/2 as big as they are in the bag
Doritos in a bowl
Spoon the mix on top
Cheese next
Mix and enjoy

I have made 5 or 6 batches at once at work and NEVER have I had any left over!

Well we do a BIG batch for the family.

We like to use the grape tomatoes and cut those into fourths. We do about 10 of those.

A lot of romaine. I chop it up pretty good. Maybe two of them

The pre-shredded cheese. a whole bag

Doritos are kind of "add to your liking"

I dont think I can do the Kroger stuff. 1st off, they are too expensive. 2nd, there is not a kroger within 100 miles of me. 3rd, I work for HEB so I am kind of partial to them!

I am sure substitutions would be good too. Around our neck of the woods HEB is the bottom of the barrel. Those DUMB ARSE "PANTRY" stores are awful.

But then I visited my brother outside of Austin and the HEB was AWESOME

Here Kroger is way cheaper than HEB too.

My wife was a little hesitant as I was throwing this together...after the 4th or 5th time of her RAVING how good it was she realized she had eaten way too much! lol She can be a tough customer too. I'm on my 2nd bowl...and b/t the two of us.....we finished off the entire mess!

Here's a different different recipe that taste pretty good.

TACO SALAD
1 lb. ground meat
1 pkg. McCormick's Taco seasoning (original)
1 - 8oz. bottle Kraft Catalina Salad Dressing
1 - can Light Red Kidney beans
* Cook ground meat according to taco seasoning package. When it is done, add the small bottle of catalina dressing and kidney beans then mix well. Simmer for about 30 minutes. Serve with whatever you like. We use the following:
Tostitos - crumbled
Iceburg Lettuce
Tomatoes - chopped
Purple Onion - chopped
Jalapenos - fresh/chopped
Black Olives
Sour Cream
Cheese - shredded (we like Mexican blend)
Piquante Sauce or Pico De Gayo
*Put lettuce on plate, then chips, then meat mixture. After that layer with whatever you like ending with sour cream and cheese on top. There's really no wrong way to make it. Fast, easy, and good. Also, you only make what you eat so there isn't a bunch of wilted salad left over. Freezes well too.

does it give you gas

I deviated and used Ranch Style beans drained of the extra juice and tossed in some left over mexican style rice from the last night.

How can you go wrong with the RANCH STYLES?

Yup. I was just using what was on hand in the pantry. Plus the salad part was some sort of "spring mix" that was in the fridge already. That type of salad I don't recommend as a substitute because it has some purple leafy thing that isn't purple cabbage in it. Whatever that was it was a bitter taste and wasn't the best in the world for this dish but, it still made a turd.

try changing the ranch to catalina thats the way mom has made it for many years,haven't tried the ranch but now I will for the change but don't tell mom.lol

catalina. always had it that way growin up. tried coach's ranch style. I prefer catalina dressing.

I wonder what if you use half Catalina and half Ranch?

Excellent recipe Thanks for sharing another way i like serve it is to leave out the KROGER creamy ranch dressing and top with a hint of thousand island (much less then i put on a regular salad)although i do like the creamy ranch.
