1 hour west of Weatherford off I-20. When I lived in Graham we would make a special trip down every month or so to get a CFS from Mary's and play shuffleboard.

You will not regret going to Mary's. Give yourself plenty of time to get there. Drive the back roads in middle to late March and the scenery is beautiful. If you have time take the road up to PK. Great way to spend a Sat. or Sun. afternoon if you don't mind a little driving.

*grins* Roller, PK is great. I adore canoeing the bit of the brazos just south of the dam. So is Mineral Wells state park and doing a bit of rock climbing, and Brownwood is pretty special too. Been all over out there, just hadn't heard of this place before. Now I'm just looking at my schedule and wondering when can I get out there

If you canoe that part of the river, you can camp at Rochelle's and drive down to Strawn for supper. I will be planning a couple of trips this March and April for the Brazos. Hitting it during the week of 16-22 for some camping and Brazos river fishing. Probably later in the week and be out of there before the weekend crowd hits.

Been to Rochelle's a few times. They're alright, but way overpriced.... and try to hawk off every stupid little souvenier thing they can at you. Don't blame them exactly but they could have a better map. If I could find someone who would do one-off printing of bandanas, I'd do up a proper topographic map, with a bit of modification to show the telephone lines, etc. Last labor day weekend we went canoeing out there and had a blast. Got many many funny looks because of how little stuff we had with us. This time its gonna be even less. Just two hikers backpacks.... and we have our own canoe now! All I need is a ride back up to the drop off point. Wish I could go during the week. Enjoy it for those of us who'd much rather be out there drifting down the river instead of stuck in the shadow of downtown Dallas. Blegh. I can't wait for it to get warm again.

Buddy Rochelle could have a better attitude for sure... and so could his old mother. They are a little high and they nickel and dime you to death: this is how much the canoe is, this is how much the shuttle is, this if for the extra person with you, this is for daily parking, this is for this and this is for that. It wears me out.
Even still, I would highly advise you to not park at the bridge and then pay them to shuttle you back to you truck. After those Palo Pinto meth-heads get through there won't even be a nut left of you truck. Suck it up and pay Buddy.

Went to my grandmothers funeral this past weekend in Hamilton. We ate supper at the Circle T just west of town. Had the best CFS I have ever eaten.
If you are ever passing through Hamilton on a Thur., Fri. or Sat. evening, you need to treat yourself to a CFS. They are only open on those days and in the evenings, so it is kind of a pain if you don't live around there. It is a huge indoor roping arena with a bar and restaraunt on one end.

If anyone is ever out in Lubbock for any reason, you have got to go to Texas Creek Cafe. One of the best places to get a CFS in Texas. Home cooked, great gravy, done the right way. Dont be scared either, the place holds 25 people max and is a little hole in the wall. But they make everything you order from scratch. Dang good place!!

If you ever go through Valera, Tx stop by Big O's (at the 4 way intersection). Great stuff and finish it off with lemon, chocolate, or coconut meraigne (sp?) pie!

My Expierence
3. Dixie Cafe in Hearne 2. Cotton Patch in Corsicana or Bryan 1. Gristmill in Gruene
I'll drive 100 miles out of my way to eat the CFS at the Gristmill. I'll have to try Mary's next time I'm up in that area

I'll give another shout out to Mary's. Good stuff, especially on "all you can eat" night.

Anyone ever been to Hobo Depot in Liberty Hill? Excellent CFS, and the name of the place is classic.

I think the place in Glen Rose is called the "Galvanized Palace or Tin Palace." Always wanted to stop there on the way to Hamilton. I will have to try it.
