I know of a guy who drilled out a couple of holes and epoxyed some pins in his broken skimmer. He says it has been holing up for 2 years.

If it is a puck, I can send you pictures of my salvage and protection device that you can make for under 10 dollars. I had broken the brackets, and used PVC and marine epoxy, a grinder to shape the PVC, and some holes to insure air gets out. It works like a charm, and it is nice to save on buying a transducer and protector, and have your custom engineered part working perfectly on your boat. Let me know or PM for pics. STEVE T

Ok Steve the word is out. Most of us have had the misfortune of a puck being broken etc. Would you please post your pictures and any instructions you deem necessary for the DIY people here on the Forum.

Thanks in advance for your help--that's why this forum is so valuable to all of us--the sharing of ideas

I just use JB Weld (not the KWIK kind but the slow dry type) use http://www.jbweld.net/products/jbweld.php

I use a large vice grip (as a clamp) and let completly dry (at least over night).

Once it's sets, you might break it again, but it won't be where the JB Weld was used.

John, my garmen skimmer broke at the bracket 2yrs ago at lake fork on a stump, after trying regular epoxy several times it would no adhere the smooth plastic. Finally, found an acrylic based plastic epoxy at Home Depot made by Loctite. So far it has lasted over 1 year.

This is what I bought. The advantage is the transducer mounts inside and you don't need the neck on the transducer for it to be mounted.

I had the skimmer type transducer with a broken arm. I made me a bracket out of aluminum and then epoxied the transducer to the bracket and then mounted the bracket to the T/M. It has been tested over and over on stumps now for over 4 years and still going strong.
