Jerry, remember that 100# er that kicked my a$$ on tuna 4?
that was on 30# tackle (JP's rig).
I love fishing w/ light tackle, but I don't need an "education" like that again!

30# tackle gets a NICE "accidentally" cut line when they pass by wink LOL!! unless of course, you can boat the fish in 30 minutes wink LOL!! actually, i would just keep fishing and chunking topwaters. those tuna will follow the boat for a good while.

I've got a question. If a trip is planned 192 days in advance, does anyone ever forget and just not show up?

Do you guys want me to put a hat together for this trip. If so, I can get one made and post a pic. Would ya prefer it to say VIII or Ocho Tuna? Could add names to each, but it would be a couple dollars extra.

Skeeter Ronnie

Ole'Capt Cuda missed Tuna II when I caught that Big Silky Shark on 30# class gear.. it just about whooped me after reeling up to the top 6 times only to have it go back to the bottom. That was the last time I fished 30# class offshore for anything but bait. I did let Brandon fish that rig on Quatro Tuna because he was dialed in on Black Fin within 40ft of the surface with a diamond jig and was having a blast with my 30# gear. I have a 50# spinning rig that is lighter in weight now so I don't even bother to bring a 30# rig for bait.

The problem with Lite Line is... You don't get to pick the Size of the Fish that hit's your bait!

I'm exactly opposite. I like baseball-style caps.
Leave the trucker-caps for truckers & Bill Dance!
