What year and modle is your Stratos. I have a 96 278 and am going to order a recess box. Any issues with the hole in the deck? anything under or around that is going to cause me headaches once the hole is cut?

Another question. Does the hole have to be in the middle of the boat or can you off set it to the right side? I keep my foot control on the right side of the seat post now and was wondering about control of it with it set in the middle. Any thoughts form guys using them now in the middle or on the sides?

My Stratos is an 04 285. Nothing under the deck or in the way to cut the hole.

Duncan53 as long as you have room (clearance under your deck) you could install it anywhere but keep in mind that if you ever try to resell your boat that might be the hitch in the sell. Center mounted is kinda like a netrual zone for righty's and lefty's or which every side of the boat you fish from. These recess boxes are pretty good size and take up floor space. I would suggest cutting a templete and laying it on your deck to see if you really want it off center also be aware of the space you have between your peddle and your pedestal seat,(you loose some space due to size) some have even relocate their seat base to give them more room.

Thanks for the info. I never thought about re-sale. I guess that would make a difference. Good food for thought.

I have a 2003 Triton tr-21. I would like to have one professionally installed. I have asked several boat dealers no takers. I would try it my self but a little unsure of what I might cut and damage. Also will it weaken the floor or deck any?

I cannot comment on Tritons as I have never owned one but like I said earlier I have installed them in my last two Skeeters and have had no issues at all. I spend a lot of time in the boat and I am not a small guy so if it was gonna hurt the flooring I would have known by now.

Hey guys, you have to check out www.trolleze.com and use the contact button and ask for a coupon code. By far the best quality on the market and at a fraction of the price. Here are some reviews. http://www.ultimatebass.info/content/view/232/46/

For all you guys looking for a recess you really need to call Mike at Lake Fork Fiberglass 903-473-4161 ask him about his pedal tub. I had one of the metal ones instaled on my boat then saw then one that mike makes from fiberglass to match your boat and changed mine out, they look so nice once installed on your boat, it makes all the ones you find in the stores look like a joke.

Here is my old post about my recess tray. Recess Tray
