On a yak you are required to have a light tht is visable 360 degrees. Therefore it has to be higher that the head of the paddler. TP&WD has written requirements for paddle crafts.

scared scared I do not like the idea of being in the yak after dark. Especially, on Caddo (snakes-n-gators).scared scared

If this trip ends up happening and is at Crips Camp a yak would be just fine for fishing back in the sloughs there by the camp. thumb

I have not been there in over 20 years but remember going to Crips when I was a wee child coach (hush Cliff).

Sure would like to see this happen, especially if it happens on a Thur - Fri as those are my days off. flehan

"I have not been there in over 20 years but remember going to Crips when I was a wee child (hush Cliff). "

Jerry, the dinosaurs roamed the Caddo area when you were a kid, didn't they?

I fished Caddo a lot when I lived in Tyler, but I only fished the area around Uncertain (Johnson's Ranch and Crip's Camp landings. I would NEVER get in the river channel by Johnson's Ranch in a kayak. The boats zip by there at high speeds and the wakes could easily overturn a kayak or, even worse, run over a yak without seeing it. Johnson's Ranch does rent aluminum jon boats, and if you have a trolling motor and battery you can fish that area easily. I have no idea what area that Dennis has planned for the outing, but he would be the one to tell you whether a yak would be suitable for the area.

I think Thursday through the weekend, get there whenever you can and meet as many others as possible is a best bet.

I'm planning on Crips, outside w/, tent, in rain, my truck, that's why they invented the ball cap and deodorant. Ha ha. I'm a bit independent. However, if I feel like a Floridian at that time, I will seek shelter w/ all the amenities.

thanks Kelly. I suspect that the family members who object to the heat will find rain more palatable...
