This morning I was just cruising on the lake making the most of my vacation on Lake Livingston when I turned up White Rock Creek. I noticed as soon as I turned the bend that a huge white pelican with black winged tips floating dead in the water. I also noticed another one close by that looked injured. I thought it may have been a gator or something that took a swipe at em and just turned around and went back to the lakehouse.

Not 30 minutes later I was on the back deck overlooking where the creek spills into the lake and heard a boat coming up from the creek towards the house. On the boat were 3 teenagers with shotguns. I then saw them float right up to a grey heron and blow it away with two shots, then leave the body there just flopping around.

They then proceeded to shoot 3 other birds. I got out the binoculars to ID the tags on the boat but they were a bit too far off.

So I called the game warden and he's on his way out. I tried to follow them to get an ID but lost them... until I went to get in my boat to find the carcasses for proof... and THERE THEY WERE pulling into the same marina. So I got a picture of their boat tags and a picture of their truck license plate. Also, the lady at the country store told me the boat was a rental FROM THEM so they have their info on file... EVERYTHING.

The game warden is on his way. I'll update ASAP.

These people give hunters everywhere a BAD NAME.

I hope they teach this trash a lesson.

You did the right thing & Great Job !!I hope the G.W. gets them. I know how you feel. I had to turn some guys in one time for taking 5 does when they were not legal to take. They fined them about $5,000 so I heard. I was ask what I wanted to do with my game thief reward and I said put it back into the program. I wished I would have gotten a lifetime hunting/fishing license now that I think about it.Keep up the good work.

Just got back. They got busted! They killed a federally protected pelican TOO! I will update here in a sec once I upload all the photos of the chase with the warden. It was fun getting to ride around with a game warden but I wish it was under different circumstances.

Over $5,000 in fines were handed out.
