Went out 12-6-08 from 7a-3p. The water was 89 degrees at the discharge and 69 degrees toward the dam area. We caught 17 bass with several over 18 inches. The lake was very crowded and lots of folks fishing the reeds, so all of fish came from grass around points and in the creek channels with standing timber. We did fish the discharge for about 30 minutes and caught several. Caught them on shallow cranks, creature baits, and jigs. Next time I go I will try during the week for it was very crowded. Good luck

Yes, I was out there Saturday also. Launched at 11:00am and there were 64 trailers in the parking lot fished until dark. May try a weekday next time.

It was crowded Saturday because there were a couple of tournies going on but Sunday was a different story. We launched Sun at 5:40 am and there were only 2 trailers there. When we left, around 12:30, there were only 8 or so trailers there and 6 of them belonged to our club members. I caught around 30 fish on Sat and 20 on Sun but only 2 over 18". Had 7 or 8 fish Sat that were between 17" and 17 7/8" and another 3 in that range on Sun. Really, really good topwater bite beginning at 6:00 am till about 7:03 or so. After that, I struggled with quality bites but could get plenty of bites with watermelon/red creature baits fished in 5-8 ft around grass but most were 12" to 16" fish.

gotta be the only lake in the world that gets hammered all winter & not a soul in the summer, those fish dont see any more boats than other popular lakes, they just see them all in 3 months instead of 12

Badassbaits, can fishing be good in the summer time at Welsh. I was just talking to my friend and was wondering if many go fish these little gems in the summer?

They can be caught in the summer, deep ... it is very hot though, sometimes the surface temp is over 105 degrees and that makes it very humid, afer April the lake becomes deserted (or has in the past)

I have noticed that this conversation took place in December. How about now, in the new year. anybody have any reports for Welsh? My club is going to fish this month. Would like any information about the lake as this will be my first time there. Thank you.
