I have no boat at the moment so my rods/reels and my son's rods/reels are in my garage leaning up against other things that are also in the way. Have any of you found a good way to park your rods/reels in the garage where they are off the floor and easily available? I don't have much wall space left. Pics of your solutions? Thanks in advance for your ideas.

I use the Berkley vertical rod holders...cheap and pretty nice. I have 3 sets that cover our combos. It does take up a little wall space but not too much.
I have mine in the back corner by the boat...certainly not impossible for someone to steal them but takes a bit of effort to get back there. Just don't put them at the front where someone can easily grab and run...

Yes. Get ya 4 self-tapping stainless hooks. Get some rope and PVC. Cut the PVC into lengths that you need, depending on how many rods. Run the rope thru the PVC and tie to the hooks mounted in the ceiling joists, one set at the tip end and the other at the handle end. Now there suspended, safe and out of the way.

Do not have them hanging since I moved, but at my old place I had the 6" rubber coated hooks you can get at Home Depot mounted on the ceiling. Worked out great. In fact I remember now were I put the ones I brought from old place and headed to mount them on garage ceiling right now, thanks for reminding me.

Academy sells a nice 2 sided metal stand that works good.

That ought to work for me. But not being very tall I will need a stepstool to get the rods in and out of the rig or else I would have to hang the rig so low that the minivan would hit it. But doesn't the PVC begin to sag in the middle after awhile? Or do you use a large diameter PVC? I could use wood or steel broom handles or 2x2 woods, I guess, and just tie the ropes to the ends of the handles. HA - the wife will have a cow when she sees the rig hanging in the garage.

Now I'm thinking that 2 short lengths of metal electrical conduit from Home Depot would work well without sagging. I used conduit for the frame of a golf net I made a few years ago - worked great.

Academy sells a nice 2 sided metal stand that works good. Yes, I have one and it works great for holding 18 rods. I have one side up against the wall and the front side are for the rods I use more frequently. All the extra rod and reels I shove in a bucket.

I use stickjackets for my rod covers and when I take them out of the boat I just a hang them on any hook. The Stickjackets have a brass groumet built into the end of each jacket.
So they are dual purpose.
The difference between men & boys is the price of their toys.

This is what works for me, and it was cheap to build! Actually my boat resides right underneath the holder so when I prep my boat for a trip, since I am in the boat already, I just reach up and grab what I need. Pretty slick!

Texcajun that looks great!! I've use the round rod racks from BPS. BPS will put them on sale, so watch the ads.

Thanks Monkster, it was all I could do to get my boat in the garage, note the new shelves. No room for the floor standing models. Told my wife, the only way I'd get a boat is if I could put it in the garage, she didn't think I could do it!
