The weekend of 8th we did well for cats and some hybrids

Any where in the middle of the lake on mid-lake humps in 15-25 feet of water. Shad are scarce but we did find some up against the wall by the ramp and in the cove in the north park along the shore.

For sand bass use smaller slab baits... 1/4 work up or work down from 1 ounce, and dead stick. Kittes were good on top of the humps casting out to 30 feet and working our way back with a few hybrids mixed in on fresh cut shad.

Hope this helps.

Mr. Pebley gives great advice and waypoints on his webpage.

My advise is to let your arm rest after the 1st 50 hybrids for a few minutes then go gettem again. banana

Slim. Big Mack is correct about Steve... And Steve and Papa Peck pointed me in the right direction. Cooper is an excellent and grossly underused fishery and I have on more than one occasion, by the state biologists and Steve, have been encouraged to get more people out on the lake.

The park facilities are pristine as are the swim beaches and kid recreational areas. I mean they are out of this world, cabins, screened shelters, camp sites sites, and primitive areas. The lake is "fishable" in all wind conditions and nearly half of the lake is full of timber so the areas to catch kitties are plentiful. The middle lake is a myriad of underwater humps, so amount of areas to fish are too numerous to point out.

I wish I could convince more of my fishing buddies to go there and I may go on Sunday or maybe I can convince Lance to go on Saturday.

Sorry I talked your ear off but I really like Cooper Lake. Sand bass there are really big and plentiful as are all the other fish that lurk in those waters.
