I'm planning a trip to Falcon and would welcome any advice on guides, places to stay, places to eat, etc. Thanks.

Contact Robert Amaya http://www.robertsfishntackle.com/. He is a second generation guide on the lake and knows his stuff. Plus, you won't find a more polite, personable guy anywhere! He and his wife, Norma, also own a nice, well stocked tackle store there on the lake at Zapata. This is a pic of him with a 12lb+.

Cant go wrong with any of the locals, and don't forget about Debra Hengst, either. It's her favorite body of water, and she can find em, too.

My dad and I fished with Robert. We didn't have a STELLAR day, but we did put some good fish in the boat. Stellar meaning 5lber after 5lber...he was very knowledgeable, extremely friendly, and fun to be on the water with. He gets my thumbs up.

Heard great things about Charlie Harrelson, lets face it, he knows his stuff too. And Speedy? How much money has he won on that lake over the years? Can't argue with the proof.

In summation, they are all worthwile. Pick a name and roll.

spent as couple of days with Gary Harlen last week and let me tell you he was a GREAT guide..on the water everyday wether he's with a client or not...put us on fish when others were really struggling with this high water...been with many guides in my day but i haven't had a guide work harder to put u on em than Gary...places to stay: Beacon Lodge has cabins and decent ramp. we stayed at the Sunbridge Inn. this is a new hotel next to the Holiday Inn express..upkeep/service wasn't anything to write home about but they do have several rooms with boat parking directly in front of the room...free breakfast in the am also..
several places to eat very close but none fancy...ate most meals at The Steak House...believe me you WILL get your moneys worth there.(chicken cordon blue was damn good). good luck and tight lines!! (also for up to the minute lake repots go see tommy and james over at Lake Falcon Tackle)

Check out:
http://tackleandrods.com/local/food.htm

for a pretty accurate review of the Food. I can't think of ANY place down there that does NOT have good & inexpensive food!!!
Good Guides, Good Fishing, Great Food - it doesn't get much better than that!!!!!

Oso Blanco is a real nice play to stay and they have a good ramp at the present lake levels. Charlie Haralson is a class act and taught me alot about flipping/pitching.
