Hey fellas, how about we start a color recipe - # of drops, glitter etc. - post that we can all use. I will make the first one.

Watermelon/Brown Camo
Per Cup LC 502 Plastic
4 drops LC Brown
6 drops LC Watermelon
.008 LC Red Glitter
.035 LC Gold Glitter
LC = LureCraft
Hold it in your hand, it's brown. Hold it up to the light and it turns green. The small red flake really lights up in the water. The gold enhances it. I also cook in Anise Scent with this one.

M-F super soft plastic is what I primarily use.

Junebug:
drops are per one ounce of plastic
6 drops M-F Grape
1 drop M-F Black
Med blue flake

M-F= M-F manufacturing

Watermelon/Red:
10 drops M-F Emerald Green
1 drop M-F Black
Med red flake

Is much greener than most watermelons

Falcon Craw
1 cup plastic
50 drops motoroil (delmart)
10 drops red (LC)
1/8 tsp. blue highlight
.035 Moss Green Flake.
.035 orange flake
In your hand, it looks like a comparable tequila sunrise.
Hold it up to the light, turns red. Flake really gives it a neat effect.

Does anyone have a recipe for Texas Shad, I need it if you do
Thank's
I would place a recipe here, the only thing wrong with that is I have never mesured anything out, on the glitter I just pour it into the plastic real slow, I do it all by sight. I'll try to see what I can come up with.

Hey Carl,
If your asking me I don't know, a guy from down there said he wanted to get some of my Dying Shad in that color, he was supposed to send me one but I haven't seen anything yet.

If it is the one I am thinking of, it is :

1 cup plastic
1 1/8 tsp white pearl
Small pinch of .008 black flake
2 1/8 tsp Iridescent flake (Delmart)

Hope this helps. Pretty much looks like the Texas Shad in the DD22 crankbait. Might even want to try a light violet vein too. Make it look just like the crank color !

Carl, is that iridescent flake the clear kind that you can't really see unless the light hits it? And I guess I should also ask if you know whether it's solvent-fast as I'll be using it in an MIBK solution.

Andi, the flake looks just like the strands of FlashBou we put on our spinnerbaits, except chopped up of'course. You can see it without light hitting it. Solid color. Very shiny so to speak. You would have to pose the solvent question to Del. I use it in Lurecraft plastic and have no problems. And beware, you spill it, it goes EVERYWHERE ! LOL.

Thanks Carl!

I sometimes put a pinch of fine .004 glitter in the letters I write to our dear friend up in Missouri. He's a manly man who runs cattle and he gets really PO'd over it!

Ivan says everywhere is when you drop a 5lb bag of powder coat in a room full of dogs!

You guys are making me want to start playing with plastic. I keep wanting to find a good mold and make some super soft football/finesse trailers, but I never have the time...

Smokin' Green Shad

1 cup platic
4 drops black (LC)
1/8 tsp .008 black flake
1/8 tsp .008 silver flake
1/8 tsp .015 green flake

Excellent fluke color.
As an alternative , use 1/2 of 1/8 tsp green highlight to give a nice shimmer effect. Can make a nice blue glimmer as well with the same recipe above, but with blue highlight.

I like to add iridescent and/or halographic gold flakes to my smoke colors. Just something a little different.
Here it is in a purple smoke.

Midnight Blues
2 Cup Plastic (LC)
50 Drops Jet Black (LC)
1/4 tsp Blue HiLite (LC)

Sorry to highjack but where do you guys get your molds done? I am looking for a mold like this one to pour my own. It's the old Guido Ringworm. Lake Fork has them in 8" and 10" but they won't pour the color I need.

This is the size and shape of the worm.

And I would like it in this color

From looking at that one Skippygus that mold would have to be an Injection mold.we could make a one piece mold and make it work but it would have 1 flat side. We can make injection molds but a little pricey. Then you need injector to pour it.

Get Del to make it for ya, then send it with him when he comes here in march. You can hand pour that one, just takes a little time.

I would like to pass it off to the Hag if possible. I like his style! If that happens, I will make sure you are the second in line, after me of course.

Duane, This is what I had written down.
4oz plas
18 Del Grn Pump.
10 LC Pumpkin
lots of .035 black and Lime
.065 Gold and Black

I remember putting the sample the guy gave me back in the bag of ones I had made up and you could barely tell them apart.
I'd love to hear if it works for you.
BTW, this was without salt in a finesse worm.

Think I may have found a muscadine solution. Not perfect but close.
1 cup plastisol
8 drops LC watermelon
1/8 tsp. LC lipstick red highlight
.008 LC gold flake
.008 LC red flake
.035 LC purple flake
Comes out chocolate in your hand, hold it up to the light, it is purple. Really neat color ! Found by accident !

Here you are Basstex, sorry I'm a day longer than I said.
Muscadine
1 Cup LC 502 plastic
75 drops LC Black Grape
3 TSP .062 Gold Glitter
Salt & or Garlic to your liking
For a little diffrent look add .035 Chartreuse instead of the .062 Gold. The chartreuse stand's out better.

Salt & Pepper Craw

2 Cup Plastic
1 tsp .035 Black Flake
2 tsp Fine Salt ( I grind my salt up to a fine powder)

This is a hard color to get, I sell them like crazy, and the store's around here can hardly keep them on the shelf.

Black Sunrise
1 cup plastic
30 black LC
1/4 tsp .035 Chartruese Flake
1/4 tsp .062 Green Flake
1/4 tsp .008 Blue Flake
Match head of Copper Pearl. Not much as too much and it will take over. Can substitute red high lite as well.

Here is a Falcon Lake Crawl color for anyone like me that only has one supplier ofr my colors, I use Lure Crafts colors.
2 Cups Plastic
100 drops of Motoer Oil LC
50 drops of Bright Red LC
1/4 TSP .015 Orange Flake
1/2 TSP .035 Moss Green
Also I added 2 TSP of salt.
it looks a little more brown while laying on the table, but hold it up to the light and it looks just let Strike Kings color.

Use Green or Yellow Chartreuse colorant from LC one drop at a time until you like the color. It is a strong color.

Those are two great colors for me but I have struggled to get them right.

Lurecraft ships internationally and has a wide selection of colors including the root beer. Don't have a recipe but you should be able to figure it out with a little trial and error. http://www.lurecraft.com/content/

Never tried it but I suppose you could if the injector block fits. I have a snake mold that shoots better if i lay it on its side . Be sure to push out the air in the injector first .

You and I can make a positive difference in someones life if only for a moment .

Side or top should not matter. Depending on the mold design you might only get a side by side color rather then a top and bottom. Usually a U tail worm will have a side to side color but a creature will have a top and bottom.

That will get you one side of the fish one color and the other side another color. If you look up the hitch mold you can do it because it is a single cavity. Here is an example of one I make that I think you are looking for.

You will not get a 2 color pattern like I posted in the picture above. You will get one color on both left sides and the other on both right sides. If you turn the block then one fish will be one solid color and the other fish will be the other solid color.
Ken
