I was looking at a boat and it says the gelcoat needs work and the prop shaft is bent. Does anyone know how much it would cost to have those things replaced?
A propshaft in a 200hp will cost a lot more than one in a 20hp motor. What kind of motor do you have? As far as gelcoat repair, it depends on how extensive the damage is. You will have to get an estimate from a fiberglass repair facility. Mike at http://www.northtexasfiberglass.com/ is a member here and would be a good start.

They have marine grade stuff for that. I forget the name of it, but someone on here will know. Call Michael at North Texas Fiberglass, he is honest and will tell you straight what is best for your particular repair.

Will cost about 400.00 for the prop shaft. The gelcoat repair can cost more than the boat is worth 3 to 4 grand to fix it right because it allways leads into something else like new carpet, rub rail molding and on and on. Best for you to take boat and have everything checked out, like the transom and compression on the motor, before buying.
