Well first off the weather from a comfort stand point was great...from a fish stand point apparently not.

My dad, a friend and I spent the weekend at PA fishing the north and south jetties..needless to say it was slowwwww!

Friday North Jetty:
Hoping to get reds but knew the surf was too calm and green...specks maybe? Well the surf was littered with lady fish, a few specks and a few span macks. In the early run we got one keeper mack and speck. In the morning just saw two other keepers specks and two slot reds on the shore half of the North. I finally got into a few mangroves mid day...5 that I kept. There was a breif schoolie run of specks in the early afternoon. We caught 15-20 in an hour, but none over 13 inches. Then the trash began making life difficult as it would all weekend..there is a lot of weeds and just plain garbage getting sucked around over there..in and out all weekend.

Finally a few reds showed late afternoon, but it was only 2 keepers and 2 large unders in the surf with 10- 15 people fishing...thankfully I got one of the keepers.

Total Keepers Day 1: 22inch red, 17 inch speck, 5 mangroves, 1 whiting and 1 large croaker.

Saturday North Jetty:
Hoped for the early morning speck/ mack bite, but really nothing but lady fish on our end. I saw maybe 2 keeper specks, 2 keeper macks caught in the morning...afternoon was more of the same really. There were also five small black tips caught..nothing over 10 pounds. Also, saw 5 keeper flounder caught. There were a couple of smaller reds as well. Keep in mind this is about 40 people fishing all day...really slowww!Thankfully my buddy landed a huge bull on a mullet...bass rod and 14 lb test.

Our tally for the day: 1 bull, 1 14 inch black drum and 4 mangroves

Both days we fished from 7AM -6PM...out there all day!

Sunday morning south Jetty 7-10 AM:

Nothing really to report. I caught one nice mangrove and got cut off by 4 spanish macks. I saw 1 small bull and 1 slot red caught. Dad saw one guy get a nice speck in the surf and a few macks. That was it watching 50-100 people for 3 hours. My dad and friend really didn't even get a decent bite.

Great weather and fellowship, but slow weekend of fishing! Guess we need some colder weather.

I feel the pain. I too was on the south jetties Saturday morning along with many, many people. We got there about 7:30AM. We left around 11AM. My girlfriend and I did not get a bite. My Brother caught about 5 or 6 macs. I saw one bull-red 40+ inches, not tagged, come from the end of the jetties.

The weather was beautiful but the fishing was painfully disappointing. I just knew we would catch at least 1 bull. I guess I'll wait until a decent cold front goes through before I come down next time.

At least I was able to watch the Texas Longhorns beat the Oklahoma sooners! We watched the game at the "Salty Dog" in Port A. Good bunch of folks in there.

I stayed on the north and kept updated on the game via my cell phone...right at the end when the deal was sealed for Texas is when my buddy caught the big bull.

awesome. Bull reds and a UT victory over OU. It doesn't get better than that. Congrats.
