This summer has been very busy for so most of my fishing trips or half days to grapevine. My dad loves Raybob and is wanting to go this Monday. I would like to get into some fish; I was thanking about fishing bridges in the north end of the lake and than just jumping around any suggestions.

THANKS

I would fish timber. I caught a hog last time I was at the bridge and lost it at the boat. Seems like a lot of the fish at the bridge are small black crappie. They will peck you to death. I enjoy fishing the timber out there.

I second what Brian said....a TON of 7-8 inchers at the bridges....great place to take a kid, but for the keepers BP's and "big" isolated timber trees

Fished the 3002 bridge yesterday and kept 3 good size crappie. A lot of 9 3/4 throw backs. Coolest thing happen though. We caught a nice 5-6 lbs bass, but not hooking it anywhere. My brother inlaw was pulling in a crappie than suddenly it pulled harder. I knew it was a bass or catfish. I was using 8 lbs line and was hoping it would not break. As he got it close to the boat, it was a large mouth. I went to net it and it fell into the net. I thought it came off the hook. But when I looked at his hook, he had a 9" crappie on it already! The only thing I can guess is it chase the Crappie and held on to it until it came to the surface and let go right as I netted it. I only heard of it happening, but never thought I would see it. I'll have to figure out how to post a pic.

If you know where any of the COE piles are you can try them . You should end up with a nice mess. The trick to catching them on those piles is finding where on the pile the bait fish are holding and fish that area of the pile. Larger timber may also do well.

Good Luck

Cliff

Hello Guys, I am new to TFF,

I have a vacation week (and my B-day) this week, planning on spending some time at RayBob chasing whatever is biting! Does anyone have any pointers for me? Not very familiar with lake hotspot areas?

Thanks, any tips would be greatly appreciated!

You may get better response if you post this as a new topic. People may not see it here.

I'm still catching good crappie on the COE brushpiles. As Cliff mentioned, you have to find where the fish are hanging on the pile. I have my best luck on the edges (sides) and sometimes just off the pile close to the bottom.

Good Luck!

I fished the bridge and poles in the bays Sat morning. Before the wind hit the fish were biting pretty good. For about 1 hours or so we caught around 30 fish with only four keepers. This goes along with what everyone above was saying. right now the bridge has tons of small ones. Fun to catch but no keepie. If the number of 9-1/2" fish that I've caught this year are any indication of next year we should be knee deep in crappie then.
But about 10AM the wind started and it was like a light switch was shut off. We caught two small crappie from 10 to 11:30.
