I just read a brief post on another fishing website. Sorry; I try to get all of the info I can. A man says that him and his son caught 66 fish on spinnerbaits and worms (I would take this to mean bass) on Fayette County lake over two days. That sounds pretty doggone good to me. I always think of Fayette County as a winter lake because the water is always so warm.
Have any of you guys had this kind of success there at this time of year?

Definitely believable. In fact not really considered great numbers for that lake. You can smack them on that lake when it's right.

That is very possible and probably accurate this time of year. Fayette is cooling and the fish are feeding, getting fat for the December spawn. I have caught 25 to 30 on worms several times during October and November on half day trips. Most are in the 15 to 16 inch range.

Yep,thats possible.I went out and had 8 in about my first twenty casts (15 minutes)and all were over 3 pounds. So multiply that times about five hours of fishing and you'll see,it's very attainable.

Thanks kingfish_1970!
Are we talking fishing plastic worms just around the outfall or all over the lake?

This time of year I start with TR worms on the outside of the grass on points then start looking elsewhere.

Actually,I was throwing a black tiny torpedo.I meant to use a black buzz bait,as it was before sun-up,but I forgot it in the car.So I fell back on my trusty old torpedo. My friend was slaying them on a black buzz bait though. Then we caught a lot more on lipless cranks and horny toads when the sun went behind the clouds. No slow plastics techniques were used.Either they're on or they're not out there.

I caught approx 40 this past Friday, And I got on the bite later in the day. All but 1 after 10:30am. If I had found an early bite 60s should have been a no big deal.

On a sister lake, Lake Bastrop, our best day was 74, all on spinnerbaits. We wore out a couple of baits apiece.
Only caight 26 yesterday at the 'trop.

Sounds great, Hookem! I just looked Lake Bastrop up on the TPWD site. This small lake sounds like it was custom made for large numbers of fish. I hope to get there in the near future.

Razor, Have you fished Fayette lately. We live close. Maybe we could get out there. If not Conroe is very close to both of us. Let me know. It is always fun to fish with someone new and get different perspectives on a lake.

Me and a buddy had 80+ a couple weeks ago mostly on plastics with 20 or so coming on poppers. All worm fish came off a 20 yard section of the rip-rap. A usual day on fayette for us is 40-50 fish. That lake is good year round.

The area got some decent rain this week. Will this affect the good bite that has been going on?
