What are (were?)all of those orange plastic mesh cages on Lake Conroe for? The ones I refer to are in many coves north of 1097. They consist of are rebar, PVC pipe and plastic mesh netting made into squares.

As a matter of fact there are several different t-post and/or re-bar cages/fences that I can't figure out up there.

Be safe,
Rayzor

I may be mistaken but, I believe those are "control" areas so that they can make assessments on the hydrilla control effort.

It is a way to keep the grass carp out so that they know if they are making a difference or not. If they didn't fence it off then there would be some question as to weather the hydrilla was going away because of the fish or because of other reasons. If you have hydrilla going away and the only thing that is different is no carp then you know the effect of that on the hydrilla.

They are where the native vegetation is being planted. I don't know how you can have native plant in a reservoir since it's man made but a couple of groups are trying to put some plants in.

There isn't any hydrilla left in the lake as far as I know. It's gone.
