I just wanted to give another testament to the quality of Wally Marshall products! I went out to Lake Fairfield yesterday to satisfy my perch jerkin urges. I had just gotten into a nest of em when all of a sudden one of my other poles buckled over just like it were a belt. I ran to it and set the hook and..........oh my God!! I felt like I had set the hook on a truck moving at about 10-15 mph. Whatever it was was meaner than anything I had every hooked into. Keep in mind that my weaponry was my 9ft Wally Marshally rod, a small Quantum Array spinning reel and some "newly" spooled 6lb high vis Wally Marshall line. On the initial run, this behemoth stripped me down to my tie on loop and some how I was able to hold off his surge. If he would have taken another 3-4 inches of line, he would have unspooled me completely (all 110 yards). We fought for about 40 rounds (40 minutes that is) and after about 8 more 30-40 yard surges I was able to finally knock him out! After the smoke had cleared, I had a 36 inch 19lb redfish to show for it all!!!! My God, I had heard about those dudes but the stories I have heard about'em just don't do'em justice. That is one of the hardest fighting fish if not the hardest fighting fish I have ever tangled with. I have caught 40+ lb catfish, 30+ lb buffalo, stripers and the list goes on and on. That redfish ranks amongst the top of em. I know that this is the crappie section and I am posting in this section because my success story was all made possible by crappie equipment. I just wanted to share my story with you all but most importantly I wanted to give another testament to Wally's products. He is alright with me!!!

I've caught 2 black bass over 8lbs and tons of 4-6lb on an 8' Wally Marshall pro series rod. I'm sure there are other good rods out there, but with IM-8, extreme sensitivity, and Bass Pro's return policy with his rods.......they are tops in my book.

What a great story. Way to work that big boy. Hope to tangle into one of those myself one of these days.

Cool! I have caught a lot of Red fish and use to live near Corpus about a couple blocks from the boat launch.
Anyway use to love catching them using 10# line and the only problem is that their gill plates can cut you line too. But the runs were great and I think they just about out pull anything the same weight.
Congrats on your catch,
Skip

Great story. It bet that was a blast. Congrats on the big Red, I have caught them down on the coast and that are one of the most fightenest fish you can hook into. Yep the them Wally products are mighty tuff . I can see it now. If Wally reads this, his next video will be trolling for reds .

You might be right Cliff! I wouldn't put it past Sir Wally! He is pretty ambitious
