How much WEIGHT will it take to win this? Remember it's going to be very very muddy that time of year. I know these guys are good. But! I'm going to say it will take 13-15lbs a day to win. banana duel fish

If it's muddy you are probably right but if it stays clear I would say 18 #'s per day would be close.

It is always muddy in Feb. Always. Even if you run down to pool 3 it's still muddy. I wish them the best.

Pool 3 in med.state( Alex.) I don't no if they will be able to run that far and back on a tank of gas. Is there a place in pool 3 to buy gas? I don't think so.

I have seen 20 to 23lbs come off the Red in late Feb and early March. To win - 3 day weight 47 to 50 lbs. They will be catching some fish on the spawn.
We fish the Red about 2 or 3 time a month.

Until Next Time Catch as many as you can, but only keep what you need.
GOD BLESS & good fishing

I don't think there is gas anywhere on the river except the marina where the tourney is going out of.

Clark's still has gas but that won't help because it is only about 10 miles from RRS where the tournament is out of. But there is a place to get fuel in the south part of pool four so that won't be a problem.

I think it will take 17-18 pounds per day. I don't see how they will catch it, but in the bigger local tournaments someone usually figures out how to catch around 15-16 and the guys fishing the Classic are the best of the best so they should figure out how to top the locals.

It will be interesting to see, but Aaron Johnson is a local. He is the one that just won the Bassmaster Open at Kentucky Lake and he is sitting in second place in the Central Division. If he makes it to the Classic he will be a force to be reckoned with. He is VERY tough on the river.

With the new motor you can make the run to pool 3 and back on a tank, back in 2000 we made the run with 150EFI from clark to Clarence and that at mile Mk 149 and fish our way back to Clark, but we only had about 3 hours of fishing time with that long run.
In the past 2 year when we have had tournament out of Grand Ecore there been 3 or 4 boat have made the long run back up near Clark with out getting gas.

Where in pool 4 can you get GAS also WHERE in pool 3 can you get gas. I would like the names so I can pass to some guys fishing the classic. These place's have to public. Thanks for your help.

Dennis
If the currant is running fast which it will be I don't think you can get back from Alex. area. I have a ZX225/HPDI225 and have ran to pool 4 and with 2 guys livewell's full. In the spring with the water currant rolling and just made it back to Shreveport. I was running 69-72mph. Maybe I'm wrong But I think YAMAHA gets the best gas mileage. If run slower maybe get better gas mileage but with more boat drag I don't see how.

Thanks
Leonard

Leonard;

If the currant is running 3 to 5 mph and we have seen this, we have made a 68 mile from Clark to pool 3 in the spring to fish, RR marina is about 10 mile north of Clark. But you do have the drag going up river, in the past when we have made this run over 70 mile one way we have keep our eye on the RPM going down river and keep them on about 5000 and ran about 67 -68 mph and save on gas. On the way back we had the hammer down and was only running 67 - 68 mph. We have a 54 gal gas tank and on avg we got about 6 mpg and that = about 300 mile. From RR marina mile mk. 214 and Salina Bayou oxbow mile mk. 141 that = 73 mile one way.
Pool 4 NO GAS, Pool 3 gas in Salina Bayou Oxbow at mile mk. 141, New Marina with Public gas. I will try to get the name of marina and double check on the gas.
Note; when we made the run back up river we move over to one side to stay out of the strong currant and that seam to help some our speed went up. You just have to watch your RPM to your speed. The last two time the BFL La/TX. Division have been over there we have had high water and 3 to 5 mph currant in the river.
