Lately I've tried using Flukes, mostly weedless over grass/hydrilla. Most of mine look retarded. They twirl or swim crooked. Is there a secret...Do you put the hook point up, or in the belly, leader or not...anything would help. And what's the best one to use,...? jime Be Safe out There

For regular sized super flukes, I use a 5/0 thin wire EWG. Rigged weedless with the point of the hook coming back up through the belly and resting flush along the back of the fluke.

Jim Centering the hook is key!
also try a split shot about 12-18 inches up... i think you'll like the results

Jim,
I use a Gamakatsu EWG in a 3/0 or 4/0. Hook point up and all the way through the top then skin hook the point so it doesn't snag on weeds or brush. Sometimes if you rig it a little crooked they will spin when you pull it forward. I will also use a small #5 swivel about 18" above it for weight and to reduce line twist if I am working it fast in shallow water.

I like to throw mine on Fireline 10# as well as using a 5/0 Gamakatsu weighted hook.

The fluke is a great bait as you see above their is alot of ways to rig it. I use them on Carolina Rig, Tx rig and my fav. is weightless in the am or all day if cloudy. I work it slow, slow slow and deadstick it for up to 1 minute. along with rigging it straight make sure your knot is not off to one side of the hook eye. another key is watch you line at all times, my bigger fish i seldom feel the bite. Good luck and dont give up on this bait. my fav colors are watermelon and green pumpkin.

4/0 superline hook, skin-hooked weedless, 15 lb floro, 3/16 oz Mojo weight 8" to 12" in front. Slow drag, set hook!

here's a good shot of the Pro-Jo by Top Brass. These are what I use because the hole is big enough to use a Peg-it. The original Mojo weights have a very small opening that requires the use of a threading tool. http://www.fishingtackleunlimited.com/p/FTU/c-top/TBT-PJO-P.html

This is the way that I use them. 5/0 hook go in the nose then come out the side and skin hook it on the other side so it lays on it's side looks more Nat. that way. Have you ever seen a shad come up other than on it side? Then a small swivel about 12"-14" up for line twist and alittle weight. 12# line. hope this helps

Try a 3X Ztoo. with a 4/0 lite wire EWG. I get great action over the grass with this. Very durable.

I fish the fluke belly up, the hook point stays inside the belly instead sitting flush on the back and it has increased my catch ratio dramatically! Braid is my choice of line for feel.

man, i really love the 3x material. try the ones that are floaters. they sit right on top of the water and the explosions are awesome. can catch 10 bass or more on ONE. work great on c-rig too as they float up in the water comlumn.

I normally fish them on a 5/0 wide gap weightless but last night I took a variety of hooks to the pool and I found I like the flutter hook too. Looks like the one Bass Border showed above without the spinner blade. When you stop them they sink parallel and the tail flutters. They still cut and dart when you jerk them.
