Finding Brushpiles at Raybob?

I'm new to crappie fishing, and for some reason, I can't find those army corp brush piles that everyone raves about. Well, not until I see some boat sitting out in the middle of the lake, hauling in slab after slab!
When I look at the graph, are they real noticable, or am I looking for a subtle hump?
Any clues would be appreciated. I'm going fishing saturday, and thought I would try for some crappie if I can find those mysterious brush piles!
Thanks

That are pretty good sized. Get a Martin's Map and that would have the brush locations on it. It might be slightly off and some aren't easily found but they are close to where the map says. Just troll around. You'll know when you come across a pile.

Yes and Yes. Some older piles are 'worn' down because of a variety of reasons: weather, anchors, current, etc. so they will appear as a hump. Concentrate and you'll be able to tell the difference. Martin map is good for RR as posted above and it is true you'll have to troll around to find the brushpile but it shouldn't take too long. Good luck. PM sent.

If you look at the 32 ft contour give or take pool level, and look on many of maps to get you in the general direction. A little searching with a half way descent df and you can find them. There are plenty on the south end, and on the north west arm. Good luck. Brad

If you can't find them make sure you are using the correct Datum (ie. WGS-84, etc). Most maps seem to prefer WGS-84 but verify it from the map you're using. Change your GPS unit to match that map and enter the coordinates from the map. That should get you pretty close but (like it was said above) you may have to troll around a bit on smaller BPs. the older corp BPs are but but have started to compact a bit over the last few years and may not be a prominate as the newer piles. BUT they are still quite visible. good Luck!

Huey,
Okay, I looked up Datum to see what you were talking about, and now wonder how you adjust your gps to match the map? I have a martin's map if that helps.
Thanks

Is the Martin Map WGS-84? What type of GPS unit do you have?
