I am having a problem with my water temp read out on both my 332c which are networked on my z-21. I am assuming maybe the temp sensor is bad since it appears on both units. I am getting readings like 122 - 147. Also on my bow unit the light display will not dim down a level, well it will but the screen flashes and then goes back to the bright screen. Console unit works fine on this problem.
Does anyone know what the problem might be and where is the temp sensor located?

Thanks for any help.

The temp sensor is on the transom normally close to the transducer but mounted to the fiberglass. It will be a black lead with a little brass tab on the end.

Thats what I thought but I looked all over and there is nothing back there. My transducer is in the hull.

temp sensor on my 332 was inside the transducer. Your 332c may be going bad, they had a problem with the power switch going bad on those units and it started flashing like you are saying. Mine used to turn it's self on while my boat was in it's storage and I couldn't figure out what was killing my batteries. I finaly walked in on it freaking out one day and sent it back to Lowrance. They replaced it with a 520 rather than fix it. I now remove the 520 and 480 head units from the boat and let them ride in the truck if I'm going to be towing the boat a long way, I hope it helps them live longer.

I don't think its the unit because the problem is on both. My transducer is in the hull so how could it read water temp from in there or am I missing something here.

If your transducer is in the hull then the temp it is indicating is the hull temp. It takes several hours for your hull the cool down to match the surface temp.

Worked fine for three years so I know its not reading the hull temp. That really doesn't make any sense. There is a temp sensor somwhere I just need to find it. It also worked fine the day before and no changes in temp either water or my garage.

Not sure about the temp reading, maybe if it was connected to the Bow Unit. Should have a wire running from inside the hull out the splashwell down to the outside transom.
If not your sensor is located in T/M T-ducer.

Thats what my lms-480m would do. It would Flash even turn itself Off and On.I contacted Linda Colt who suggested I replace or upgrade . I upgraded to the LMS-520C.

I would recommend contacting Linda
Good Luck

1st the lets hit the menu key until you see network. then hightlite that press ent. then look under the bus step and see if reading a temps like EP-35 thru hole. most of the ranger used a thur hole temp sensor, usually located under neath the lip of the transom. like where your drain plugs just look right above that under that lip you should see one. it will be blk circle with a bronze thing in the middle of the circle.

if you are reading the temp on your bus/net work. mostly like the temp probe went out.

where's shady shore, tx at?

Medic, Ok this is what I did. Under the BUS here is what it says.

Device name is EP-35 Temperture.

Device Info:

Software 1.3.0
Model 1.0.0
Instance 255
Status UnConfigured

Will not let me set as active or calibrate.

Also under Advanced Options it has Restore Defaults but I did not try that because I wasn't sure what would happen.

Temp reading in that menu is also 140.

Hope this helps and if you can help me with the next step I would really appreciate it.

My cell is 214-542-8221.

Thanks again.

Boat is in the garage and I can't get back there to look until I pull it out tomorrow. Anything else I can try in the meantime? Is it hard to replace?

No, I did talk with Linda and she has jury duty and will be out all this week but she thinks its the sensor and medic did tell me where to find it so I will be working on that part this week. As far as the unit not dimming corectly she thinks the unit is going bad but she said when she gets back to call her and she will get it taken care of so thats the plan.

Thanks to all that helped me out and I will let you know what happens.

Thanks medic for the phone call and help.

I have to replace my starting battery as it went out sat and wondering if this might have something to do with it (low voltage). I know wishful thinking.

If your starting batt is the one hooked up to your unit then I can tell you that the unit is most likely going bad and turning it's self on when you are not around. Cost me two batteries before I happen to cathc the little bugger flashing away and freaking out in my storage one day.

Mine has a master switch so that can't happen. When master is off then no power anywhere.
