We drove down to the National Seashore yesterday. Could not believe all the debris they have from Ike. If it would float, it ended up on the beach. We saw at least two hot tubs, numerous water heaters, plastic chairs and storage tubs, TV and computer monitors, hard hats, life jackets, life rafts and other stuff. We only drove down about 15 miles. The beach got a little soft, and I sure didn't want to get stuck. We did catch a few whiting. Talked with some folks from San Antonio that had caught some bull Reds the day before. Always a day late and a dollar short!

Now why didn't I think of that? hmmm Actually, this particular one was in pretty good shape; the other one we saw was sort of busted up. I had a friend that had been down right after Ike and said there were all sort of drinks and food (canned) on the beach. Of course, all the booze was gone. We only saw one diet coke and some bottles of water. There were roof sections, steps, doors, cabinets and such also. Enough piling to build a nice pier. The NPS was loading an older deck boat on a dump truck while we were there. Lots of scavengers, and I noticed one fellow was loading up a farm trailer with stuff.

Wonder how many people are still missing from the Galveston area? We were wading, and I kept thinking, wondering if a corpse might wash in. Things are still washing up. Wife felt something hit her leg, and it was a small strobe light (like a mini flashlight) and it would still work. We also saw a small kids toy tractor (green plastic kind they ride) wash up on our way back up the beach. So sad. Parts of folks lives strewn up and down the beach.

A couple days ago the list was 400 to 500. It's now at 113.
