Well, fishing doesn't get much easier or more difficult all in the same day. The redhead & launched from Isle Du Bois and the fish were surfacing about 150 yards out past the ramp. Barometer dropping, almost no wind, and clear & sunny - 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Caught fish for a bit there, then they shut off, so we drove around the lake for a bit & the redhead decided to go swimming for a bit (see, nobody saw you topless in the water!) Came back there later & caught some more. Peaceful, pleasant day. 68 on the golf clicker (my birthday present!) and we kept 18 for family dinner later in the week. Very few dinks. When those fish stop biting, they STOP.

There were huge swarms of fish stacked in 40-50 feet of water, but we were catching them on the dropoffs leading to those depths - about 30-35 feet. White slab jig & fly. Maybe I'll be ready for the TASF event Oct 25th, huh?

Sounds like a nice day on the lake. Glad to hear you finally got to get out and fish some. And as for the swimming...nevermind. woot I have six trips coming up in the next eight or nine days, all of them wanting to fish Ray Roberts. clap Should be an interesting couple weeks up there.

Yeah, forgot to mention it's the first chance I've really had to go fishing in a few weeks ... almost a month. Real estate is kinda rough right now, so I've been working extra hours & overtime at the airport to make ends meet.

Hey Zack, I was going to fish RR yesterday, but when I got there I saw a naked mermaid in the water. I freaked out and left.

Hello Guys, I am new to TFF,

I have a vacation week (and my B-day) this week, planning on spending some time at RayBob chasing whatever is biting! Does anyone have any pointers for me? Not very familiar with lake hotspot areas?

Thanks, any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Keller, hire Boston Bob to take you on the lake your first day. He'll be able to put you on sandbass & show you what to look for.

Boston can help as can other guides however if you are like me I have to learn the hard way! I don't mind when it is slow. I would rather wail on them but just being out on lake is good enough for me!

To answer your question launch at Isle Du Bois and go out of ramp to right (north) go toward the island (Wolf Island) and about 2/3 the way between the boat ramp and the island there are some humps in about 40 feet of water going up to about 25 or so.

There is an underwater ridgeline coming off of the north shore of the creek next cove north of Lantana resort on east side of lake. 2 coves north of boat ramp. Look on this arm of lake from creek up to and around islands for good action.

See map I centered it on location.

Good luck.
