I would make sure I didnt not have it hooked to the trolling motor power. Then that the transducer cable is not broken anywhere. Mine is gouged and I have to try to fix. Massive noise in a nice pattern.

first, try running a fused ground wire from one of the negative posts on your troll motr batteries-to the negative on your cranking battery. (ground loop isolator).
You need to contact Minkota and tell them about the problem and when they tell you to hook the negative together of your start battery to your trolling battery you need to ask them what a better fix is for it and try to make them fix the unit instead of having you fix it for them.
I just reread my book as I was moving my transducer wiring and it says to make sure your trans wiring is not close to your trolling motor wiring. Mine was just waiting to test it out now.
