Thanks for the kind words everyone. It was very rewarding to me to be able to explain to her how to work the bait and what to feel for. I was watching out of the corner of my eye to see how she was doing. She was really watching the line and soft-handing the rod to get a good feel of the bait. I saw the line jump when the fish picked up the bait and she immediately reeled up and stuck it. This fish really lit a fire in her. She never realized how fun plastic worms could be. She has caught catfish and bass on live bait and topwater baits before, but never a soft plastic. She is already to go again this weekend. I can't wait.

Congratulations to the student and teacher . I'll bet it will be hard to keep her off the lake from now on.

wow those are some really nice sized bass! were did you catch them pond or lake? And if its a lake which one? These are some stock tanks near Wichita Falls that were supposed to have gone dry and had no fish in them. We got permission to try them anyway. Not bad for dry tanks. I am going to take her to a small lake either this weekend or next so she can see how different it is trying to catch lake fish versus tank fish. I know they are so much easier to catch in tanks, but trips like the one in the picture are the ones that really suck em in and get em hooked on it. Thanks for the replies everyone. That is why I love this fishing community. There are so many genuinely good folks on here who share the same values and rewards as I do. God Bless.

Wow, she can throw that baitcaster behind her? Thats unreal! That one is mine with the line still in the water. When she hooked up, I was over there to coach her from busting the light line on that micro 11. She had 8 pound with light drag. I put it on a 6'6" light action All-Star rod that I cut 8" off the tip to shorten it and stiffen it back up a little. It is a good rig for her. The micro fits her hands good with the small profile and crank, and the rod is adequate for her strength right now. She can't get too wild with the light line anyway. When we go lake, I will put her on a med-heavy with a Revo set to keep here out of trouble. We have already been practicing some, but when I can't stay right with her to help, she fishes the Zebby.
