I upgraded with 2 lcx27c this year and seem to be having a problem with the one up front. I tried everything I can think of including a new transducer but can't nail this one down yet. What's odd about this is it appears to do it more in shallow water, 5' or less, than deeper. This shot here was actually in about 4' of water. Have you seen this? how did you fix it???

Check with Don Iovino - he had a fix for a shallow water issue on the x27/28 in an issue of the GYCB Inside Line magazine a while back.

where you fishing grass in 4ft. thats what i'm seening right before it mess up.

what software is in the unit. update to 2.3

once its update or if is,

try setting your graph this way.

color line 72
ping 75 or 50 in grass might help it
chart speed slow it down little see if that helps

also go to sonar feature
and put it in shallow water mode. it might be under general used.

then try setting putting all reductions on low. surface clutter and nose reductions and see if that helps.

In 1.3 feet of water, that is what I would expect.

I'm I wrong on that ?

On the 2D's you are only seeing 1/3 the depth of the water you are in.

In 4 feet or less (it's less coverage than 1 feet any how), so what is the big deal (you are not going to see fish anyhow)?

If you want to see out (especally that shallow get a Humminbird SI unit).

I guess my concern was.....is there something wrong with this unit or should I expect this. I've owned several lowrance units over the years and none have done this in shallow water like this. As I mentioned this was actually in about 4-5' of water, there was some grass here as well. I've actually seen this in about 10' of water as well, but not often. The depth is off because of the freeze framing that is happening.

Pretty much, anytime I'm less that 5 feet, I'm just looking to keep from running a ground with the 2D units.

That is all you should really expect on 2D.

For your lowarnce, make sure it's set back to defaults. And really you should not get the interfence/Distortions you were seeing (of course unless you are in grass or your unit is slow to Auto Adjust it's Sensitivity).

Thanks Medic and GH50 for the PM...I'm real interested in what Lowrance will have to say about a fix. Other than this, these units are fantastic, really fun to play with. I'll be installing my broad band unit now to see how it plays.
