I remember seeing tying kits which had materials to tie a dozen or so of one fly and included a sample fly. I thought it was H&H or JSFF, but didn't find find the kits in either paper catalog. Anyone else remember seeing these single fly kits?

Thanks Cole. That is the sort of kit I was thinking of, but I don't remember visiting the Leland site before.
Thanks TCF. I got a chernobal ant kit at Barlow's sometime back.

I would suggest Barlow's, Orvis, Gander Mountain or checking Sportsmen's Warehouse (if you ever pass through Round Rock). There is also Backwoods, in Ft Worth. But I don't remember if they sell kits. I have never been terribly impressed with BassPro's tying kits.
(Bill, if you are reading this, I am sorry. But, this is my opinion.)
I cannot speak for Cabela's. But the kits they offer online, appear to be decent. And of course you can try any of the other vendors, listed in earlier posts.

BassPro does not sell single fly kits, I don't think. Grasshopper is looking for the kit where you buy for example the "Clouser" kit and it has instructions and all the materials to tie a dozen Clousers. I think Umpqua is the only company that markets those kits.

I have never been terribly impressed with BassPro's tying kits. I started tying with a Bass Pro jig kit. It came with a strange little box which had tape, running between two spools, which contained video images. That is the sort of thing I was thinking about. I found one site with other examples of the dupli-kits. The ones I remember seeing had in the copy, "sample fly included." I guess I need to enter the "show me the fly fishing sites I've visited" search in google. Interestingly, "fly tying kit" (w/o the "s) showed this thread on google.

Those look like the ones.
But, to borrow a phrase Simon and Garfungus, I maintain, and I maintain strongly that I saw these in a paper catalog. Oh well.
Thanks to all for help in locating the kits.
