I'm thinking about taking a Tuesday or Wednesday off at some point in the later part of autumn and making a quick trip to the LMF for some trout fishing. I've made the drive from my house to the park in just under 3 hours. This obviously makes for a long single-day trip, but I think it's doable.

If anyone up around N. Texas is interested in joining me on this excursion I'd be delighted to have the company. I don't have a specific date in mind but would prefer to do a mid-week trip to avoid the crowd. And of course as a relative newbie to the board if this kind of post isn't considered appropriate here please let me know.

J.

I had planned to go to Broken Bow sometime this October as well. Things have surely happened to disrupt my plans, but I will go for one or two days regardless. I need a break.

That seems to be going around...

Maybe we can get a little gang together up there if we plan it right. The trout will never see us coming.

As some of you know, i guide up there. as well for the sandbass run at Feb-April. i am actually guiding wed (15th) and thrusday (16th) of October. then about 10 friends are coming up from Plano to ski on Broken Bow Lake and camp out on Friday the 16th. so i took the weekend off to camp with friends and finally relax, and fish by myself for 3 days without showing someone. so if any of yall are going around those dates, let me know....... the following post is provided by:

http://www.beaversbendflyshop.com

The owner (Sid) posts a weekly fishing report every week on what is going on at the river.

We've had another frontal passage that provided us with about 2" of rain... The temperatures have also dropped several degrees... The low temp last night was 49, tonight the forcast is for a low around 45F...

The fishing has been a bit "tuff" lately.... Several folks have told me that they could not catch fish using the suggested "best fly" , then switched to a wooly bugger and was successful at catching a few fish.... This explains why I keep the wooly bugger in the list of "best flies" at all times. It simply Works!!

"IF I had to fish with only ONE fly.... I would choose a wooly bugger!!!"

Today the powerhouse started generation a few hours earlier than the time posted... You CANNOT believe the information that these folks post... Like Ive always said..."consulting your Ouiga Board" will produce similar accuracy of the generation schedule.. A pair of dice might produce similar accuracy!

Oct 9th is scheduled to be a trout stocking day... Also trout are scheduled to be stocked into zone 2 for the first time in many months... This will allow the Catch & Release anglers to spread out a bit, finally.

Good flies have been: wooly buggers, y2k bugs, blue winged olives, elk hair caddis, adams, stimulators, several types of bead head flies, including copper johns and others...

We have 10,000 flies to choose from and we will be happy to help you select a few productive flies .... Come see us when you get a chance... We thank you for your support.... We are located INSIDE the STATE PARK... alongside the Mtn Fork River...

So the fishing is tough right now? I want to go when the fishing is productive. I can have tough fishing here. When do they stock next, does anyone know? Also what about smallies there?

Jonathan, here is the link to Beavers Bend Fly Shop, Sid is a great guy and will be happy to tell you where to fish and what to use. There is also a message board (forum) on his website that is chock full of info. Whe I lived in Tyler I used to drive up there once a month or so, fish for a few hours, then drive home. My knees are now too bad to navigate the rocks in that river now.
