It is interesting that if Obama gets his way he will raise corporate taxes while all of europe is lowering their rates - realizing they need to attract business. Raising corporate taxes will drive more business and jobs overseas and who can blame them (the corporations). It seems the Europeans get it and we don't. Maybe it will take 4 years for us to see just how effective raising taxes is going to be on getting the economy back on track.

I don't know about you but I do not want to lose my job because the president raised taxes on corporations. How is that going to help anybody? Please explain.

After all, in their deranged minds, taxes are only government's way of taking what always was government's. If you subscribe to the theory that the government owns everything, then taxes don't seem quite so onerous.

For a grin, try to figure out how they blame businesses and republicans for moving offshore, yet they cannot figure out the simple truth that having the second highest corporate taxes in the entire world plays a major role in driving business away. These supposedly intelligent liberals just can seem to connect the dots.

Higher corperate taxes = higher consumer prises. The consumer pays twice. That is the Dems. way.

Your point is well taken. Yes, we would be better off lowering taxes and encouraging businesses to manufacture here, and employ Americans. That is not however, the democrat way. They have a well documented philosophical anti-business bent. They think business is evil, capitalism is wrong, and greed/taking advantage of workers is what business is all about.

In their perfect world, government would control businesses and thus all the revenue. Workers would not need much because all needs would be met by government. They think they are smarter than we....and they alone should determine how capital is spent.

Butch - 95% of Americans did not want the bailout and congress passed it anyway. That's no reason to shoot ourselves in the head by driving companies away. Would you raise taxes if you knew you would lose your job just so you could get back at those evil companies? I don't like a lot of things the company I work for does, but I am smart enough to know that driving them out of business is not in my best interest or the best interest of my co-workers. If you want to drive someone out of business you ought to concentrate on Congress.

Unions, which are notoriously liberal in political thought, have done just what you suggest Papa. In the rust belt where I one lived, they would destroy the company that employed them, then whine like baying hounds at the lack of jobs. I have seen signs that stated they would rather have no job than take a reduction to make the company competitive. Company locked the gates, and moved to mexico.
