I had to replace trailer side flat 5 plug. I cannot get the new plug to work. Old plug is as follows, female-white, 1st male stud is two wires,( brown/green - brown/yellow ) 2nd stud is yellow, 3rd stud is green, and last stud is two wires (white/green - white)

The new plug is female - white, 1st stud is two wires (both brown) 2nd stud is yellow, 3rd stud is green, last stud is blue. Now the two brown wires go down and one joins the green and the other brown joins the yellow.

I connected the wires all matching color to color except for the new blue which I connected to the two white/green and white wires of the last stud.I connected the new brown running parallel with the green to the old brown/green of trailer. Likewise with the new brown running parallel with yellow wire to the old brown yellow of trailer.

I can get brake lights and turn signals but no running lights.
Can someone straighten me out?

i had that same problem with my skeeter trailer and it turned out that most of my ground wires were loose or not getting good connection.

Well I checked the ground and I believe it's good. I'm not electrical but I put a meter on the truck trailer plug. I show 12 volts for blue wire, 8 volts for green wire, 8 volts for yellow, but zero for brown wire coming off the truck. I can't determine if or where there is a fuse on the truck that controls trailer running lights. Any help?

You definately have a bad ground and you have blown the fuse in your Chevy truck. The fuse is located under the hood in the black fuse panel and its a 15amp. You will continue to pop that fuse until you find the problem in the trailer. Since you are in Waco take it over to my dealer Yowell's and let Jimmy the owner fix it for you. (254-772-9582) Tell Jimmy I sent ya! Good Luck grin

You are most welcome - Skeeter folks have to stick together. Us ladies know a thing or two about our rigs too grin

Thank you again Debra,

I walked out to driveway, popped the hood, found the bad fuse. When you wander through life as I do it's always helpful to have someone nice enough to point you in the right direction.

You are most welcome, again I must stress find the problem in the trailer otherwise you will pop that fuse 2 miles down the road and you will not have lights on your trailer. Call Jimmy at Yowells and I betcha he can find the problem before you can blink an eye and have you back up and running.

SWEET SAVE!!!! I hooked up the boat tonite and had no running lights. I have yet to pull the boat with the used 2500HD that we picked up a couple months back. I was going insane tryin to find a broken wire or something... Finally came in and found this thread... So I borrowed my cig lighter's 15A fuse till I can get to autozone...

How bout that search button!!! laugh
