Hi, this is my first post here, I'm from Argentina I want to buy a new reel, it will be an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur, but I can't decide between the C3 or the C4, wich one would you recommend.
PLS: forgive me for my lousy English !!

Bienvenidos! Your English seems just fine! I can't advise you on the Abu Garcias, but I'm sure someone will come along here and give you some good information. (I'm a Shimano guy.)

C4 has an extra ball bearing, so go with that.

I only use the ABU C3's and C4's.
The C3's have more power to reel in hard pulling baits, like crankbaits since they have a lower gear ratio. To me they are just as smooth as C4's. C4's do have a higher/faster retrieve ratio and have an extra bearing. Ofcourse,it is not much trouble to convert a C3's bushing to a bearing and not expensive either. Then you can have the power + the bearings. Both cast about the same distance. If it were me, I'd buy the C3 which overall seems to be more versatile. I use the C4's for texas rigs, jigs, etc. where you cast out, work the bait, and reel it in - but not crankbaits. C3's work very well for the same baits + crankbaits. Both reels will cast light baits well. Both reels have equal power to reel in fish since you normally pump and wind to land a fish vs. straight reeling with a harder pulling bait.

I have 15 assorted Ambassadeurs, and have to say I can't tell the difference between the C3 and C4 in actual use. Go with the C3...less expensive, and when properly maintained, will last forever. I will have to say, though, that I use my Revos almost exclusively now.

from someone who see's these reels get used alot the C3 or C4 last alot longer than all the cronarchs, calcutta, curado, cruxis, pflueger etc. by this i mean without repairs. the above mentioned reels are nice stuff. my service has both to please and/or fit the needs of the lure presentation. never have tried a revo but i'm sure they are great as well. one thing is the "new" 5500 is great and smooth when casting but in 4 months already have had 2 buttons and a paw gear go bad. 3 out of 4 not so good. button feels cheap when you push it. my main reel is a OLD abu 5500 size and i really mean old!

C3 has better pull, less casting distance C4 has better casting distance, not as much pull as the C3
All of my C3's are set up for when I'm fishing with bait. When bait fishing I'm either dropping straight down or making somewhat short casts. C4's I use for the most part with plastics rigged on a lead jig head or jigging spoons/slabs.

A lot of good advice so far. You need to think about what you're going to be using it for. I own both, and the C4 is a little smoother, and I like the thumb bar, but the lower gear ratio on the C3 is good for certain applications. If you throw a lot of crankbaits, go with the C3, but if you are going to be using it for mostly soft plastics or jigs, then I would go with the C4.

Reels. I should have known. I thought this was going to be about carbon cycles in plants.
I think that the C4 cast better.

I have a 6500c and 4600. I like both of them. My first was a 5000 I bought when I was 16 and I used it for 30 years when it got lost while we were moving.

Outstanding photos, I would love to catch one of those, I don't know if I am willing to travel thousands of miles
I would suggest the Abu 6500 c4 for the additional line capacity. If I was using live bait , I would go to the abu 7000.
good luck MO
