Cool. I thought it interesting that he started the spinning rig at the spinner end. I start at the other end when bending rigs for jigs. Then again I make them removable and have to slide the retaining spring along a straight wire.

Robin, I am always amazed at what you are able to find, on the Internet. This is another fine example.

You can make any fly a spinner bait fly, just by simply buying "jig spinners" at Walmart, Academy, BPS, whereever.... they consist of the spinner, swivel, wire arm, and have a clip to attach the jig to, or in our case, a streamer, to it. heres a wooly bugger with spinner.. you dont need any weight on the wooly bugger since the spinner metal provides the weight.

That sounds handy! Do they come in "itsy bitsy"? if you're talking "duck creek" sized for 1wt, then NO. but if your talking 5wt and up, sure!

You could use the spinners off your old beetlespins.

I order those from Barlow's all the time and tie up Wooly Bugger jig heads to go under them for my Grandson. He says the fish in Choke love them along with the submerged brush. LOL

I can almost hear Tom nixon saying," The only reason to put a spinner blade on a fly is if you want to catch fish."

I have not put any weight on my Woolly Buggers, except for if I make a conehead one. I guess it would be better if I wrapped some lead on them. I plan to make some for Broken Bow beforehand. I made a gray one today, but put a black head on it with chenille. The rest of the body was gray just like the marabou...then I added a big black head on it. I wrapped the body up to, but not including the head with grizzly hackle. I thought I would see how it performs doing it that way, instead of a conventional Woolly Bugger.

I like the use of flash on the head of that fly. If only there were such shiny materials available for the rest of the fly.

Hey Robin.
How are those Barlow's spinner rigs working?
I was playing with the UL spinning rig recently and found that Davy's Knot does not work well on the looped end of this type of spinner rigs. The knot works fine with the R-bend spinners I make, but not with the dual-layer safety-pin style bend.
Apart from the knot, have you had a chance to fish the spinner rigs?

WOW! That is cool! The bottom one looks like the spinner off an old PICO Texas Trailer.
