Hey Guys, My Son and Grandsons and I went to Purtis Creek this past weekend and did pretty good. We caught a total of 25 and threw back the dinks but kept 11 keepers. 8 crappie and 3 sandies. Sure going to be some good eating. We found them in bp's at 10 ft. It was windy but they seemed to bite better when the wind was blowing. We were using jigs and minnows. Mainly minnows. Lake is 2.5' low, clear. 75`
The main thing was we had a good time and I enjoyed seeing those little boys eyes get big when they caught one. That was worth it all. woot bump

Thanks luvdemslabs,
I've been away from crappie fishing for nearly 20 years. popcorn My family and I have always loved to fish for crappie. Now that I'm retired I gonna try to get back to fishing more. fish I'm so new to the forum that I don't get many replies. Why is that? noidea Is it the lake I'm fishing or just because they don't know me?

Thanks for your reply,
Derl

Derl,

Once again, WELCOME to TFF....
Sit back, relax...read read read...learn what you like, dish what you don't...ask what you must....and gain what you can.

I assure you that you won't be disappointed with the folks in here as we are always looking out for one another.
Some, you may have to pry a bit more than others to get info, but most will surely help you.

I recalled you were asking about Purtis Creek last week, and I went on to reply to you (or was it you) that I and many others in here don't know much or anything about the lake. As the same time frame, I informed you that it was bad timing due to the CC tourny. As it turned out, we had a great turn-out which I was right on the reason why not many replied to your questions. Everyone was busy trying to commit themselves to the last tourny of CAT.

I suggest you join CAT club this coming year where you will meet lots of Average JOES like me and lots of PROS like many guides around the metroplex from various area lakes. Also continue to participate in TFF here. You won't be left behind.

Hope this would ease the paranoid within self regarding the few replies to your post. WELCOME!!!!

PS:...if you ask about other lakes that many are familiar with, you will see how helpful most can be...good luck!

Thank you for reminding me of that wonderful place. I have only fished for Bass there and loved it. However, I have never fished there for Crappie. It is on my list now!!! flehan hammer

While you was fishing Purtis was you using a boat or was you dock fishing I fish the dock their by the baithouse & have got alot of information from the people that own it & by the those that just sit on the porch talking bout fishing ....If you try the dock over by the area where the travel trailers camping the water is not as deep as over by the baithouse & now is the time the crappie are coming in I will be back out their in the near future maybe we will meet & have a chance to chew each others ear ......Good Luck where ever you fish ......

Thanks Stucky, I'll probably join, but I've got some private issues to take care of right now. My wife is homebound and I'm taking care of her, so I can't go anywhere (like fishing) unless I get someone to stay with her.
I really do appricate all the great people on here talking with me.
I have made an update with pictures to this posting. You can find it at; http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbt..._w_#Post2715263
Thanks Again,
Derl
