Does anyone know of a place that one could buy live baby Common Carp? like 4"-5"?? Is there like a place that sells them to stock ponds or things like that?

Thanks,
GG

highly unlikely since they are not a desirable pond species. you'd be better off stocking a pond with koi. If it is public waters then you MUST get a permit from TPWD

i think tilapia would be a better option. you might ask Fatty(moderator). I think he purchased some tilapia to help keep his pond in check.

there used to be a time most bait shops sold "israeli carp" as bait fish hence some of the mirror carp around here

I'm going to put them in my stock tank. I had some koi in there a while back, but I gave them away so I could get natural species.
I did Gar, but I'd rather have true Common Carp.

I'd go back to koi. Get a few mirrors and a butterfly and quit switching it up. I have seen the size of your stock tank and it couldn't support much more than a couple adult koi anyways without some major filtration. 7 koi, 5 shubunkins and a few fantails or one oranda for a 1000 gallon tank.

Natural species? Gar are a natural species. Bowfin are a natural species. Buffalo are a natural species...

What do you mean by natural species? Do you not want genetically altered fish?

Krista, obviously Dustin wants to see, cuddle and catch a carp!

Why do you have to ridicule every one of his posts?

Sounds a little like the attitude that you complain about from another local carper towards you!

Just an observation.

Dustin, no you can't buy common carp locally. You can buy mirrors in OK for use as bait. Mirrors seem to do better in the Texas heat too. If you need some small mirror carp I can give you the name of a supplier via pm. please remember that you can't stock them in public waters, but I'm sure a small private tank would be ok.

Ever look in bait stores in OK? Google mirror carp bait or Israeli carp for bait. You'll find um.

So, it appears to anyone who reads this forum, that you take heightened pleasure, on bullying a sweet natured sixteen year old boy. This is not the first, but I hope the last time you bully a youngster who is keen on carping.

All he wants it to have a common carp in his stock tank, and what does he get in return? Abuse. Leave the boy alone.

A lot of baiting stores on lakes sell Israeli Mirrors as bait for cats and stripped bass. Dustin, you may find some there.

I remember cast netting in possum kingdom lake and catching 3-6in commons. you could try to cast net some in places that have them.

I want a Carp due to the fact that it is a big possibility that we could get a large scale hurricane and I need a fish that I can release to the wild if I have to. I can't do that with koi.

I have no plans to stock any body of water. Just get a few of my favorite for pets.

Richard....Please PM or Email me the link. Only mirrors right? No commons?

I've done Gar (spots) and they just sit on the bottom. I hear Bowfins are active, but I have not been able to catch them lately (to much saltwater). Same with the buffs, to much saltwater.

By natural Species I mean..... Fish you will find in the wild. lol

Yes, They are carp. But I want a plain ol' Carp. Koi is not something you normally find in the wild.
